Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo E3: Will it be enough for you if they.....

Pikmin was fun, but I cant say its one of those big titles for me. It'd be like the Animal Crossing announcement last year, was nice, but didn't care much.

At this point in time, it'd have to be Zelda, Starfox, Kid Icarus, or a horror-genre game to wow me, but I'm not expecting any of that, especially after the E3 hype machine last year.

No, surprises started last October when Punch Out and SnP2 were announced. They are working hard to appeal to the core base and this E3 will surely do that and more.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

btw, Its without doubt going to be a new Donkey Kong plus whatever else. Listen to the ign podcast as there is a monkey noise.

Dont forget:

Nintendo promised a big surprise

Ign said some days latter it was nice, but not earth shattering

Turned out to be Metroid Prime Trilogy

Which was nice, but stil justl old games in a new package

In conclusion: dont get your hopes too high with the nintendo show. They will probably show Pikmin 3 as the new hardcore hope and call it a day.

I think the general consensus is that Nintendo pretty much needs to show either a new Zelda or a new Mario for the Wii to satisfy us as gamers. Without one of those two behemoths, everything just seems small time.

The only other ways I could possibly see Nintendo's conference NOT falling on its face is if Nintendo announces new, non-spin off games for at least 5 of the following franchises: Metroid, Fire Emblem, F-Zero, Kirby, Star Fox, Mother, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Golden Sun, Pikmin, Super Smash Bros, or Kid Icarus.

The last way I could see Nintendo redeeming themselves is if they pull out a HUGE 3rd party title out of their asses. Something akin to Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII or Grand Theft Auto for the Wii.

Metroid Prime trilogy???? What's that?? Are you happy with that? More Remakes? COME ON! Even Sin&Punishment 2 or Punch Out are not BIG quality titles at the level of Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Donkey Kong or Smash Bros.

If they do not show something BIG ( a high budget game with HIGH quality ) I am finishing my days as a Nintendo fanboy.

^ Thats crap David. Punch Out is a HUGE game, its old sure but its huge. SnP 2 should be HUGE for the audience they want to get this year, core gamers.

This whole def. thing is being changed and you have to understand if they do make another zelda/mario/SB/MK they will again be called unoriginal and repetitive.

Miyamoto needs to simply say "Pikmin 3" and walk off stage and my hype will be sky high. They could pack it up and leave after that alone and I would be happy.

Pikmin is my crack cocaine.

To Each Man, Responsibility

Not to mention its like the highest rated game since SMG on 2007.
