Man, do you play PS2 games that much? If so, why did you sell your PS2
I think they would lose money as the hard-drives are similarly priced (and I imagine even more so than the examples given here do to economies of scale)...
End of the day, 80GB ones cost the same to produce and can retail just as well as a 20GBb one
20 GB HDDs nowadays cost more than 80GB HDDs, because they aren't in mass production anymore
I would see them just removing Wifi from the 80GB b4 they even think of this... just seems to make more sense to me...
4 ≈ One
20 gig is to small i have a ps3 that came with the 20 i ran out of space
i put in a 160 gig drive plenty of enough space for me.
i still have 125 gigs left lol
VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3
Sony should release a 500GB PS3 and be done with the space issues.

What's the point ? It would probably cost more to paint new boxes and reserve retail place for new SKU than the price diffrence beetween 20 GB and 80 GB drive.
If you can find factory producing one at all.

I wish they'ed introduce a version without any HD at all, it would probably for niche market but just about every gamer I know who bought a PS now has a 200gb + HD. Given a choice, I would have gotten a cheaper PS3 that does not contain a HD.
So long as the buyer is aware that you are buying a incomplete system with big fat warnings it might even save Sony some money :P
