Forums - Gaming - Boom Blox lead leaves EA for thatgamecompany.Sony Motion control coming?

Interesting, I wonder if this might have happened because of possible upcoming Sony motion controls. thatgamecompany seems to favor Sony platforms above others... or will thatgamecompany start to develop Nintendo games after their Sony contract is up?

Boom Blox producer leaves EA, joins thatgamecompany

thatgamecompany, the studio behind flOw and Flower, has managed to sweep away former EA developer Robin Hunickle. Hunickle worked as the lead designer behind MySims, and produced the two Wii Boom Blox titles. In a statement to Kotaku, Hunickle explains that she wants "to reach new people, with new experiences, via the medium of games and the language of game design" in her new position. With both flOw and Flower completed, Hunickle says thatgamecompany is "at the forefront of the indie movement."

It's currently unknown what position Hunickle will serve at thatgamecompany or what project she will be working on. The team is still contractually obligated to develop at least one more game for PlayStation Network.

BAM! There it is!

Wii Code 3456 7941 4060 2924
COD MW Reflex 541192229709
Around the Network

What does that have to do with the rumored motion controls? If Robin Hunickle wants to create games in the style of what thatgamecompany is doing, then there is no better place to go then to thatgamecompany.

And also, thatgamecompany has a contract with Sony for 3 PSN games, so we know there will be at least one more PSN exclusive from them.

One guy leaves one company to join another=new controller...? I just ate some pringles does this mean that the world is going to end?

Sounds like Nintendo talk to me. The indie thing sounds catered to WiiWare especially.

Its E3 time, everybody is paranoid

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Aniticipation of E3 is getting to your head.........lay down and rest it.

Flower and floW are interesting games on PSN.

But if you want to reach numbers of people, developing for the Nintendo consoles/handhelds has greater potential than developing for Sony machines.

MySims has sold close to 1-1/2M on the Wii and the original Boom Blox close to 1M.

I would quote Flower and flOw numbers if they were available -- even if they changed the argument.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
