@BKK2: That's what I've been thinking for a long time. My reasoning was that they maybe wouldn't want Nintendo to get all the shine this summer, so if the rumoured new PSP model and this PS3 price cut are true, that's indeed the bet they can do to stop their products from falling too far behnd once WSR and M+, MH3 and KH, Blood of Bahamuth and DQIX are released for both Wii and DS respectively.

When I made that list of upcoming Japnese games, I also found it weird to see so many PS3 games so close together and also so close to WSR launch. I asked if a pricecut was announced for that date, but it's all speculation what I got for answers. What you say makes sense, so a pseudo price drop with many new games and then a new model can do a lot to help PS3 to dropping to abysmal terrible levels and to stop Nintendo from building too much momentum. If that's what they're planning, then that's the right move.

Another thing, why has Pro Yakyuu Spirits been pushed back by over 3 months this year to the middle of July? It's the third installment on PS3, there shouldn't be any development delays, but if Konami was aware of a PS3 price cut at the end of June it would make sense for them to push it back to this date.

Nice observation BKK.. But its not a very big title.. just a regular yearly iterating title.

It sold 200k on PS2 last year and over 100k on PS3, if they want to migrate some of those PS2 owners over to the PS3 version then releasing it after a price cut would be the sensible thing to do.

wow 55% sell through for ME.. so they roughly shipped about 20k

its pretty bizarre that its arrived 2years after western release since they only translated the text and menus but the voices are still american

Mass effect would have sold better had it released closer to its initial launch in the west. WRPG's have actually sold pretty well on the 360 in Japan so I can't see why this wouldn't beyond the fact that its been delayed so much.

Why has it taken this long for Mass Effect to get to Japan

alot of dialog had to be translated... maybe they did some extra stuff for the Japanese audiance as well... who is publishing it?

So Takt of Magic have sold 1k more the rest of the week? Hard to believe.
