What kinda reviews did Takt of Magic get??

Kinda good:

* Takt of Magic (Wii, Nintendo)
8 / 8 / 8 / 7 - (31/40)

Not exceptional but good

BKK2 I don't think they'd waste the immediate impact of a price cut by putting it so close to Wii Sports Resort, Dragon Quest IX and Monster Hunter 3 which all release within a two month period. I would think September or October or November is more likely as the impacts of those games on consumer spending and boosting hardware sales will be diminished, and Wii sales will likely be back down to 'normal' levels, but if Final Fantasy XIII is to come out in December, they'll want PS3 as cheap as possible to get the most benefit, with word out that the system has become cheaper well known too.

Nothing's going on in Japan, spidey. If Nintendo doesn't tell people a game is available, if they never advertise new franchises, then no one will buy it. I think my prediction of 10k for the first week was a bit too high. 15k LTD seems right.

It's good to see that their current "no announcement or info until the game is almost out" policy is not working. I wonder how they plan to meet thir projections if all the games they release are starting to bomb.

Disaster, Trace Memory R, Family Jockey Wii, Tact of Magic, Captain Rainbow.

Then all those games are the ones that don't make it here to the West, because of poor sales that were induced by their own ignorance on how to sell a game that is not an established IP. Also here in the West, Excitebots bombed hard, I don't know what's going to happen with Punch-Out, hopefully brand name alone will save it from disgrace.

The weird thing is, they advertise on TV ALL the time. They spend a fortune. I've seen a load of ads for Wii Motion +, Wii Channels (??), and WiiWare. Not a single one for Tact of Magic though. Maybe I just missed it, or maybe Nintendo think this will sell itself. Or maybe they know stuff like this doesnt sell on the Wii...

Family Jockey Wii is from Nintendo, saicho. Besides last year they had 3 huge releases: Wii Fit, MKWii and SSBB, Along with SMG and M&S which had just been released in Q4 2007. Then also Wii Music and AC:CF were there to help.

Now this FY the only notable thing coming out is Wii Sports Resort. If they want to meet their projections they better have some big things coming up. Punch-Out is not even that big, and if released without any ads (which I highly doubt) it would not sell that good. But the thing is, that PO is not even on the league of AC for instance.

What else Nintendo has, has to be very big, because neither PO, nor S&P2, nor Metroid Trilogy is big, bah only PO may be moderately big. If they plan on selling 26 million Wii's they have to have something, or at least they have to try to make the smaller titles successful as well. I'm not saying they wont reach those numbers, but without compelling big software, there's no way they are going to achieve it. 3rd parties may help this year, but still without big 1st party games it's just dishonest PR IMO.

Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

No, it isn't. It was published by Namco Bandai.

That should be Sloane and MacHale.

@Rhonin: That's news to me, it was published by Nintendo according to VGChartz for all last year and also this year. Looks like someone changed the info, but I was basing myself on the info provided by this site.

STAGE - not really. Fable 2 and Fallout 3 released in very short order.

I think a lot of it has to do with the massive amounts of unique text and voice that were required....Plus the buyout of Bioware probably didn't make for good publishing rights.

That's what I thought too. It took a long time to get the audio/text translated on this amazing game. Hope it shows the same kind of legs Fable 2 has in Japan.

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

Well I wasn't really expecting a price cut before Q4, but if the rumoured "PS3 Slim" is true then they may need to do a clearance price cut on existing inventory before they can release the new model, similar to what they did before the release of the 40Gb model (60Gb & 20 Gb models had a ¥5k drop). I'm thinking more of a "pseudo-price cut" (maybe ¥35k?) before the "real price cut" of ¥30k towards the end of the year when the new model (45nm Cell is coming regardless of if a PS3 Slim is) comes onto the market.

We can expect PS3 sales to sharply drop off to very low levels in Japan over the next few months, and we've already seen sales drop to very low levels in US, unless they have very low levels of inventory then they're going to have to do something to shift current models before they can release the next one. I think in this situation a price cut is largely independant of competitor's software releases and more dependant on Sony's own hardware release plans.

Of course this is just speculation on my part, it could simply be a coincidence that there are a lot of PS3 games releasing that week.
