Forums - Sony - MGS4 is 1080p!

@ Zyzomys

From all I have read so far, there seems to be no indications of bad game performance. Here another: Metal Gear Solid 4 Hands-On Impressions Plus

http://kotaku.com/gaming/tgs07/metal-gear-solid-4-hands+on-impressions-plus-301773.php

"Of course, the PLAYSTATION 3 game's graphics look absolutely stunning, equally as gorgeous as the game's cut scenes and promotional trailers."

."Metal Gear Solid 4's new improvements definitely broaden the appeal of the long running marquee franchise. Having personally waned as a fan during Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, based on the excellent work the team has done to expand the audience and address many player's concerns about the complicated interface, the game is simply a must buy."

At this point, the game seems to live up to the hype. The visuals are sharp, the audio effects are unsettlingly realistic and the fourth MGS adds tight action gameplay to its stealth formula."

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

I've played and loved every Metal Gear (except Portable Ops) game since the NES. I even liked Snake's Revenge. Since I don't have a PS3, I'm pretty sure MGS4 SUCKS!;P My tv only does 1080i anyway. Why Kojima? Why hast thou forsaken me?

Lair had good graphics at 1080p, But ran horribly(what was the developer guy thinking 30fps?)

Killzone 2 is sadly 720p/1080i

Admittedly, I've not played Lair but there were numerous reviews stating that slowdown was truly awful in a number of areas of Lair.  Is that not the case?  I don't think we'd have read that in repeated reviews if it was locked at 30FPS.

At point 2, why is 720P a bad thing?  That is still a phenomenal resolution to play videogames at.

If it meant that every game coming out on next gen hardware (this round) had to "settle" for 720P but would be locked at 60fps, I'd be thrilled to get 60FPS in everthing I play.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

So when does it come out again? I wasn't going to by it but, well, I was a fool for not planning to buy it xD

I think gamers who spent $599 on a PS3 and who knows how much on a 1080p TV aren't so ready to settle for 720p.

I'm one and I really like Warhawk and Heavenly Sword regardless of their 720p resolution. Heck, they both look better than most 360 games I've seen.

Oh, the ignorance.

The Cell has almost nothing to do with whether or not a game can run at 1080P at 60 frames per second. That's completely up to the RSX.

ROFL, wow that's some ignorance for you... Please see the following post to help educate yourself:

A good example is Super Star Dust HD which runs 1080p@60fps with tons of effects.

Excuse the extra posts...
