I think there's already a few language learning software out on the DS. I had this idea in my head while on the train, and I just felt like sharing it to hear your guys opinions. Will it be a good idea for a software company to get a deal with a popular anime studio, and get their seiyus, artwork, animation, music, etc to be featured on the game? The reason being that there's a good number of Japanophiles who want to learn Japanese and will buy anything from their favorite anime (especially if its new exclusive content).
Since Kyoto Animation got recent and huge popularity with American fans, they could feature the characters from Melancholy in the game. You'll intially start the game with subititles, and as you learn words the game will remove those certain words from the subtitles. You'll have the standard minigames in language software, and it should be easy to make. They could easily do sequels. And if the sequels are starting to get dry, all they can do is feature another anime series and start over the numbered games.
They can even include DLC, with visual novels or mangas being sold to be read on the DS.
Or is this a bad idea?
