Forums - Gaming - Will the Nextgen Consoles have Resolutions in Quad HD ?

I just cant Imagine that the Nextgen Consoles will have Quad HD (3840x2160) It took so long for HD TV and even 1080p is mostly not the native resolution of the games they are just upscaled. What do you think is it possible for the PS4/Xbox720 to reach 4 times higher resolutions than now ? That would be a reason to buy a Quad HD TV (If they are affordable until then). I have never seen a resolution like this. Has someone seen it yet ?

 

If the trend goes on that the Consoles are 10 times more powerful than the precedessor(Ps1-2-3) would it be possible to run games in Quad HD ? Is there a infrastructure coming for Quad HD in the next years? And makes it sense ? Is it possible to recognize a resolution that high on a 42 inch TV ? What would be the maximum for the Human Eye ? Is it possible for us to see the difference between Quad HD and Super Hi Vision (7,680 × 4,320) on a 42 Inch TV ? Most of the people I know can barely see the difference between 720p and 1080p on my small PC Screen (23 Inch). The resolution race has just started how far can they go ?

We won't ever effectively see Quad HD TV. EVER. By time the consumers are ready to start moving to the next level their will be better and newer technology out their. Possibly even a cheaper one.

4*1080p no in 2 to 4 years people wont be willing to move to new TVs and nether will content providers be willing to replace the multy million dolar inferstructure they are still puting in now. games running 1080p at 60 fps yes.

Has someone seen it on an expo or something ? If yes is it an improvement as big as 1080p vs VGA ?

 

BTW: Tvs with 2160p are coming in the next 2-3 years and Japan starts Broadcasting it in 2011. The main question is will the Nextgen Consoles have the Power to do it and if yes would Sony or MS do it or not if its technically possible ?

 

I personally dont think it will happen but then again why should they release 2160p TVs if its impossible to benefit from it ? Maybe they will have 300 Gb Blurays in 2012/13 the first big step from SD to HD took a long time but it seems that the next step wont take so long.
