Well, that is the expectations I've read from the developers. Do you have some newer link to other kind of numbers? |
Bull. You're just imagined what you wanted to read. Show me the link where you read that.
Oh, wait. Is it this interview you twisted in your wii-dislike? I do think so.
interview 9 feb. 2009
The Bitbag: If it's a big hit, could (The Conduit) possibly go over to the PS3 or 360?
Ganofsky: I wouldn't rule anything out. There's definitely a market there. There's a time and a place for everything. If Nintendo, SEGA and High Voltage come to an understanding, I think The Conduit could become the Halo for the Wii.
Nope, no 10 million. That statement doesn't mention numbers but talks about the conduit becoming the primary shooter (and a possible franchise) on the wii. Since Nintendo has no (real) shooter IP, there is a chance and possible room for it. He's not saying it's halo 3 or something. Is he? Even if he means some degree of numbers, then certainly the one from Halo 1. I believe that did some 2-3 million on the x-box (can't find the numbers now). If Sega does a good marketing job, it could approach it. And that has to be seen.
But i repeat they did not say, anywhere, it would sell 10 million units. In fact i can't find any sales predictions from HV. They speak about the 50 million wii installbase and all that, but apparently now expected sales.
On a saleswebsite you better backup your claims since this is all about numbers and records.

"I’m Josh Olson, producer on The Conduit, and I wanted to say thanks for the feedback! We agree that 10 million is a very nice number, but perhaps a little low for The Conduit."

Darn, I missed that one with my google search. You got me there. But, i wonder if you read it. You obviously know this guy is joking, right. There is a whole thread about it on Vgchartz, a thread where any sane person reads it as a joke. One funny thing is this: you didn't quote the whole thing. Here it is.
"Bon gia [this means good morning], Francisco!
I’m Josh Olson, producer on The Conduit, and I wanted to say thanks for the feedback! We agree that 10 million is a very nice number, but perhaps a little low for The Conduit. J Know that Sega, Nintendo, and we are all working together very hard to make The Conduit an awesome experience for everyone – we wholeheartedly agree that it’s a system-seller and hope to get it into as many people’s hands as possible. It’s in good hands and we’re looking forward to showing off our baby to the world very soon.
Thanks for the support and the feedback!
Josh"
See the Big J (higlighted there), right behind a seemingly joking sentence. Strange you didn't quote that. Very strange. It almost seems like you wanted to leave that out. But off course you didn't. No, that seems like nitpicking to claim some fanboy point.
Anyway, this message was a response to a fan who asked if it could do 10 million. Clearly they answered in a lightharted response. Is that a difference you can make about wii games?

Match what Killzone 2 did. I would say if it finishes under 250,000 in the first week, that will cause "It's a bomb!" to be cried out.
For The Conduit to end up being THE game to get PS3 and 360 owners to consider the Wii as a legitimate console for them to play FPS titles on, it better get into the Gears of War realm. Apparently The Conduit MUST do this, because to try to say otherwise results in core Wii fans to get VERY upset with you and call you a troll for saying that it won't do this.
I think a good week for it would be 100k worldwide. Nintendo games, and most games actually, that aren't established IPs take a while to build a head of steam. This game is so hyped that people know about it, add in some good advertisement for casuals and I think you can do 100k worldwide. If it truly is good game deserving of the hype, people will end up buying it in the long run.
Also, I don't expect it to sell more than 2 or 3 million max. Conduit 2, however...
I'd expect at least 120000 copies world wide the first week to be good. 1.5-2 million sales in a year would be considered a big time success imo.
If it establishes itself I could see The Conduit 2 double those numbers.
