Forums - Gaming - Tony Hawk: Ride exclusive to the 360 in UK

Just stupid. The developer takes a hit on popularity on one side and probably fails to gain any on the other.

Two, its almost certainly timed and unlikey to help MS particularly. 360 does well in UK anyway and has enough of a base this is unlikely to add much.

PS3 owners either import or wait for the inevitable PS3 release.

This approach just sucks whoever does it.

if this is , I it is the same idiot who started the whole fake Conduit review.

if it is real, I bet people in UK could do a class actin suit against for any competitive behaviour.

*COUGH* intel and it's 2BN fine in EU .

I bet a lawyer could build a case around it after that tragedy with intel.

that same theory will lend ms to do the same in japan over the much bigger name of ffxiii

your assuming that their legal system will care. the only reason this MAY have a chance is because INTEL got done for anti competitive behaviour in EUR.

It basically opens a door in EUR for similar suits. And I wasn't saying sony would sue. people would for being force limited to 1 choice, when there are more available.

im sure people in japan would care and btw if the britain case would go ahead people in japan could use that as a case for evidence.. i cant remember what its called but the legal system thrives on a first case going ahead then copying the result.

Plus every single exclusive would get affected by this if one did happen

I'm pretty sure a legal precedent cannot be established when the law is different. Else there will be precedent for stoning thief to death as that is the law of some middle eastern countries. Japan is not part of the EU and has an entirely different legal system; thus there is no precedent.

@headshot: Japan is still the second biggest market for video game (with respect to individual nation)

Ontopic: This is even more baffling than the ghostbuster exclusive and in the end, it's the consumer that will suffer. Be it MS or Sony, I think this type of practice sucks.

Payback for Sonys Ghostbuster deal.

Well, now Activision says the game will release on PS3 and Wii too.

Turns out it was a PR mistake, it will be multi-plat.

No, UK is now the second largest, you can look it up if you want

Hm.  Smells like a quick retraction to me (or there's one more PR person looking for a job right now).

I note they'd don't confirm timing.  Perhaps this is about to switch to a known timed exclusive (which is just about the bizzarest kind of timed exclusive I can imagine).

Do you honestly think people in Japan got a 360 for FFXIII, also considering how many 360s have sold in japan well.. not to mention FFXIII is coming to 360 too.

The point being i snot an exclusive anywhere else, means is using money to prevent competition in a market.

But like I said, I do not in the UK it woudld be interesting to see if people do try this .

Excuse me, i dont think a lot of people bought PS3's in the UK just to play Tony Hawk: Ride. No offence but your own logic works against you. FFXIII is coming to 360 correct, but OUTSIDE of japan, which is what this convo is about, inside of Britain is where the excl (if it is still happening) would be, where as outside of Britain is where it is multi plat. Do you see how you continuing to spout otherwise logic continues to help you dig yourself deeper.

Sony could be using money to prevent FFXIII from being excl in Japan, because lets be honest at the moment, Sony needs to keep a big market, Japan is the one they have chosen.

Really? When did this happen? Only last year Japan was still the second, I was sure that they still were coming into this year...
