Yup, I only went from Ilos though, I hoped to get ally achievements for Tali and Wrex, but only Tali popped up. The annoying thing is that I will have to start a second game on that save for the sniper achievements
Now I have started a new campaign as a Vanguard, and I plan to play 3 campaigns on this difficulty, normal, hardcore and insanity

Increase the difficulty of the game. It makes winning even more satisfying. This is the type of game where you want to feel the heat of battle. I didn't worry about all of the achievements as I specifically want to carry out a certain version of my Vanguard into Mass Effect 2. Vangaurds are the best because they are a mixture of a soldier and an adept all in one.

Any subtle hint or change that Square is anaylzing and scrutnized over and over again. You clearly do not play them. Response: You can do this with any game regardless of genre. I will still get the story from Fable II and Mass Effect from youtube. It can be easily done. The choices you make a really an illusion and the only ultimate change you see if a different ending. (which JRPGs have been doing for years. Different scenes and endings based off of choices you've done) @ Legend I know there were the hardcore PC WRPGs, but I'm talking about consoles. @ selnor So you're not playing a role in a JRPG because it isn't always you? Isn't it not like acting? You are playing another character, living his/her life. You may not choose how you fart in a JRPG, but you are still playing the role of that character. |
A few notes about Mass Effect, and the storyline (spoilers abound):
You can not derive the entirety of the story, nor the outcomes, from one simple playthrough. Your ignorance of Mass Effect is stunning. I have 5 playthroughs of Mass Effect under my belt, and am one of only 15,000 Mass Effect players to have fully mastered the game with a 1000/1000 gamerscore rating (which, by the way, requires no less than 3 complete playthroughs, if not 5).
Lets go over some of the aspects of how the storyline changes based on what you actually do in the game (to prove your ignorance of learning the storyline from a few YouTube clips):
For more spoilers, here are some major plot questions we were left with in ME1 that carry over to ME2:
There's a lot of depth to the choices you make in the Mass Effect universe. I'd challenge you to read the entire storyline of ME 1 in a matter of YouTube clips.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
Not to mention, if you ignore the council requests and go renegade, you will receive random calls from a secret fleet official who needs you to do dirty missions that the fleet would normally never allow if you were a Paragon.
@ Mrstickball: Very good detail of what the game was all about.
STAGE -
Are you referring to Admiral Hacket's 'The Negotation' quest?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Mass Effect was GOTY for 2007. Copy and past that line into google. I guess thats why a 'Mass Effect Game Of The Year Edition' is out. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10250552 So what makes you think it's not gonna happen again? |
Who exactly sets these standards? How do we know a game is GOTY? Based on reviews/rewards? From whom? There are hundreds of video game related media outlets....of course ME2 will win GOTY from at least one of them. Does that make it "the" game of the year? NOPE. That's like trying to say Saints Row 2 was GOTY 08 because two media outlets named it so. Most of us know realistically that MGS4/Fallout 3/LBP share that title, and as amazing as all three of them are, we cannot say that one of them is the GOTY.
I honestly feel sorry for ME2 if it gets released the same year as FFXIII because it will be completely destroyed. Like someone above me said the sales of FFXIII in Japan should be enough to take on ME worldwide. But we all know sales cant always speak towards a games quality....so let me make it extremely clear that FFXIII will dominate ME2 in that aspect as well.
Mass Effect is great....but it is nowhere near the quality of 80% of games that have "Final Fantasy" in the title. As for those of you who are calling it THE best RPG so far this gen. you should give Lost Odyssey a shot.

Possibly. I don't remember getting the guys name, because they were annonymous calls when I was aboard the ship. The only happened when I was a renegade though. When I was a Paragon the only side missions I had were given by comrades at the Citadel or turned down offers by low lives. When I was a Renegade I took all of the offers that gave me money, power and sometimes I helped the bad guys.

The only thing FFXIII will beat ME2 in is worldwide sales. :)

and gameplay, and graphics, and music, and value, and metascore, and number of awards.
