Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Another store chain in the UK breaking street date for Halo 3

At least one Tesco, a retail superchain in the United Kingdom, has apparently broken the street date for Halo 3.  A consumer reported buying several and seeing dozens of copies for sale on store shelves in their Craigmarloch branch.  This after another retailer, Argos, made news for breaking the street date just days earlier.

One can't help but wonder if this is a ploy on Microsoft's part to get more publicity for the game.  After all, every time someone does this it's a bunch more publicity with people going crazy about it.

those stores are gonna get sued.............

The source?

It was from someone who bought several copies there and that gave everyone a heads up (he posted it on a newsgroup). I just reported it to Eurogamer though so we'll see what happens.

Thats not cool.

Retailer better not cry when more games go download only, they cant even keep a street date. One cant even consider them serious business partners if they keep breaking street dates.

this is Tesco, a supermarket in Scotland (Craigmarloch). This is a very remote place I think. They should have broken the street date in London, people would have gone crazy for it.

Microsoft said they wouldn't punish Argos for releasing Halo 3 early. Argos claimed it was an honest mistake, and MS believes them. Tesco better hope MS believes them as well.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
