Thats good, I dislike Apple more than I dislike Microsoft.

But in what world is Apple a small company?

I meant in size, not profits. They always just keep around 2-4 products at a time, unlike a company like Sony that has their foot in everything from car stereos to movie productions. Apple and Nintendo just have like 2-4 products with huge montrous profit margins.  EA is losing a Billion dollars a year and have more studios and developers than any other game publisher in the world. Most of their games are also hugely unprofitable. They lost licences to IP's like Lord of the Rings and James Bond because of consistent low quality. EA and Apple are a horrible fit. If Apple did want a studio, it would probably be a small quirky studio like Rare.

Explain those 2-4 products cause I am seeing closer to 20 products.

Are you counting every single software and accessory that Apple makes for macs and Ipods??? LOL Then Sony has 3 billion products.

No but I am not spliting things up in to generalized groups either, which is probably what you are doing.  if that was the case then Sony only has about 8 products then.

Sony only has 8 products?? Im not even generalizing Apple, they really only have Macs, Ipods, then Iphone and Ipod touch. Sony has at least, Sony Vaio, Bravia Tv, Playstation 3, PSp, Cybershot camera, Sony Ericson phone, Walkman, then they have stereos, car stereos, Then a movie studo, then a music studio, etc. There literally one the largest and most complex, companies in the World!!  Apple has macs, Iphones, and Ipods and they focus on those products like a lazer. They dont care or worry about anything else. Nintendo worries about the Wii and DS and focus on those 2 products like a lazer. How do you compare the 100 year old Sony with their overly large GM like corporate structure with Apple??? LOOOLLLL

Sony products are only  Home Theatre, TVs, Cameras, Walkmans, Playstation, Cell Phones, Car Stereos,  Vaio, Movies, Music.   So I was off by 2 products.  Apple Products are iTunes, Quicktime, iPod, iPhone, Mac Computers, Servers, Wireless Routers, Apple TV.  you were off by 4

I think you've been a little broad with Sony & too specific with Apple, a little consistency please

If you are going to just make catagories for Sony like Movie, Music & Home Theatre, then Apple is just 2 products, Hardware & Software

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

1. Your 'point' that the advertising is lame is, frankly, a lame argument. Your opinion does not equal fact just because you type it. The fact is that from a marketing perspective, the MS ads are very good (just as the Mac ads are good from a marketing perspective). They focus on creating a strong value proposition vs their competition in a down market, please tell me how this is lame from a marketing standpoint.

2. You calling the MS product 'buggy' is most likely spoken from the perspective of somebody that has no real experience on the matter and has merely been programmed to believe this from what you have heard. I work with PC's for a living (I am a Microsoft certified professional delivering tech support to several small-medium sized businesses), and I can tell you that 95% or more of the problems with Windows PCs are caused by incompetent users. These people load down their computers with Viruses (don't tell me Mac doesn't have viruses, please google 'Mac botnet') and crappy free programs, toolbars, shopper tools, etc. The vast majority of issues come from these factors and are not due to the MS operating system at all.

I have also used Vista extensively and find it to be rock solid as far as stability, and slightly lacking in performance compared to XP. Windows 7 (which I am using currently on a few of my comptuers) is set to be the best release of Windows yet, with the great new features of vista combined with stellar performance, even on older hardware.

I ran four XP computers for many years (one desktop for 7 years straight so far) with very few problems and NO VIRUSES. My 7 year old HP with Windows XP has MAYBE one minor crash requiring a reboot every one or two years or so and is on 24/7/365. My other computers are similarly stable.

On the issue of Macs being overpriced, this is largely a matter of opinion. It's no mystery that Apple makes most of their money on the very large markups they put on their hardware. Because their software is closed architecture, you have no legal choice but to pay 50-100% more for the same exact hardware from Apple as from one of the many MS platforms. In my opinoin, Macs are very overpriced.

Mac's are not bad, they do what they do fairly well, (though OSX has not been without it's share of bugs) they are simply too pretentious (IMO), expensive, closed architecture, and limited in their software library for my taste.

People thought the ads were stupid... but I knew they were good.

It's always a little nebelous when the market leader acknowledges the other guy... because they usually only need to rely on "Mere exposure" marketing. Just putting out ads to further your image as the top dog. But Apples ads were very hard hitting.

In reality they are kinda taking a play out of the republicans handbook.

Making Macs look like the rich elitists who have $200 dollar haircuts and think they're better then you if you can't afford them.  Etc.

But they're doing it in a much more subtle way.
