Mac stores advocate that you stay the hell away from Limewire as it will fill your computer with viruses... I don't doubt for a second that this is just so people will buy media off itunes instead.

The best way to go about infecting your Mac right now is to download an illegal copy of iWork or Photoshop. I'm sure they're readily available on Limewire, so there's actually a legitimate basis for this advice.

So you're saying ALL illegal copy's have virus's? Sounds like something the makers of iWork of Photoshop would say to scare people from downloading. Not saying I condone downloading, but that's probably BS.

~90% of marketshare is Windows. ~10 is Mac. The reason that OSX is safe is because most hackers would rather attack for the 90% marketshare instead of the 10%.

A Macbook gave me herpes.  Wrap it up everytime.

No there are NO virus threats in macs

to say that they dont have virus because there is no interest from hackers blah blah is pointless

the fact is that they dont have viruses and this is the answer to the question

who cares if it will be possible to have in the future and blah blah duh!

get the facts

Also there are not that many big business that us MAC OSX. Most ppl dont hack for fun. they are looking to make profit some where from someone. otherwise they must be really bored..

Agree partially. Mac OS X's Unix foundation also increases security beyond that, although Apple seem determined to weaken this (e.g. maintaining seperate Java runtime from Sun's voluntarily and then not patching it with security updates).

And that argument doesn't apply at all to faithful Unix-likes such as Linux. They may have a smaller marketshare but they are at least as secure as Windows otherwise many servers would have been hacked as they are too valuable for hackers to ignore otherwise.

Yeah, that is BS. That would be why I didn't say "all illegal copies carry viruses." However, they are two applications which have been known to carry a trojan when downloaded from illegal sources, and I'm not sure what other warez might carry unwanted hitchhikers.

Some people just read whatever they want to read...
