Whoa, simmer down guys. You are both above senseless name calling. I agree that the price of the PS3 is a bitter pill to swallow. It's a machine that could have gone a long way if only the technology wasn't a few years too ahead of it's time. Blue-ray and Cell seemed like a great idea on paper, but I do really believe that the Playstation brand has really strayed away from it's roots. |
The PS3 should have launched together with the XBox360, back then the Cell was still innovative. Now even the most modest PC has a multicore interface. But they wanted blue-ray in it, and now they have blue-ray in it. Now they only have to learn to live with the consequences.
The PS3 does have some possibilities, but since the marketshare is going in the direction of 15% no developer will even try to get the most out of the PS3. It will be easier to get the most out of the XBox since it will be similar to PC multicore development and the Wii just needs a straightforward approach.
The sad thing about the whole PS3 experience is thatit is just made to make games look better, but you'll see that Xbox360 games will have better graphics in the long end.
I saw some MGS demo's and i have to say that the game doesn't look so good in terms of graphics (it looks more like a doom3 engine gone fps), yet it looks cool and interesting. M-maybe thats what the PS3 needs: a game that shows that graphics aren't important, but gameplay is.
