it's not like you guys know each it other.
just be careful with what you say.
@Words of Wisdom
I understrand that and most others would as well, but there will always be new members who don't it is very true that if you don't want anything repeated it's best not to say it but some are to trusting.
I agree people should think before they type and that people shouldn't be typing stuff on the internet that they wouldn't say face to face, but hey this is the internet and it happens all the time.
On the other hand if you post a conversation from an IM channel it can be taken out of context, edited and the person may not be present where the information is posted to defend their point of view, so i agree that for this reason it shouldn't be allowed.
Also, people have been complaining about the IM channel being boring and that there are no interesting topics. Who is going to state an honest opinion on a controversial or 'taboo' topic if there is a risk that their opinion could be reposted in a more public forum later. One of the main reasons doctors have confidentiality is so that it allows people to be completely honest.
What happens in IM should stay in IM.
@hsrob
All three main points you make are very good If people want a dynamic IM then there needs to be no posting in the forum without all the main participants agreeing.
At first basic referance could be made then the group involved could agree on farther use of discussion.
There seems to possibly more to this then I at first thoght if anybody that was in the IM at the time can fill us in that would be good.
