Saying that the XBL Gold is an additional fee was childish.....XBL Gold is Only $ 4.17 And it's used to cover Bandwidth....Don't try to make a point if your argument is Flawed....

Talk about a case of bad timing. On the eve of the big launch for the New Xbox Experience -- which, remember, marks "a new dawn in home entertainment" -- we've learned that Netflix streaming won't have quite as many films available as we had been hoping. Joystiq learned earlier this evening that a number of films -- including both Ghostbusters and Bad Boys -- are now unavailable to be streamed to the Xbox 360. The common link between the suddenly unavailable flicks is that they are all from Columbia Pictures, which is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The films haven't disappeared from Netflix altogether; they are still available to be played on PCs and on TVs through other devices, making this seem like a petty move on Sony's part to try and take the wind out of Microsoft's sails.

Ok first off, relax. I said it is extra because I always knew that with XBox Live if a game, etc had it's own subscription you were exempt from needing to purchase Gold in order to enjoy it. When Netflix came it was the first time from what i've known that you had to pay for Gold along with an initial subscription cost in order to use something.

So you see, it wasn't "childish". I was just going by what I was originally told. If I am told things work one way and then out of the blue something goes against what was originally said and works a different way I am sure as hell going to consider it an "extra fee". If a 360 MMO one day releases and requires you to pay for Gold + the game's subscription fee would I be "childish" for calling it a "fee" as well? No because I will remember how FFXI is free, just like I was originally told things like that would be.

As for the Sony thing you keep bringing up. How long have you had Netflix may I ask? If not 2 years then you're more flawed than me because I know what is there, what was there and what will continue to be there whether it be before the Sony issue or after the Sony issue.

Enjoy this too while you're at it.

Those Sony movies are on there. So what is the excuse now for the selection?

So now I ask you. Who's flawed here?

XBL has had a fee since Day one...And It's a huge Success....It's not Extra.....XBL Silver Is Extra!

Thank You...I actually had not heard that Netflix finally paid the License issue.....

As to Selection problems..Proly more License issues...

That is ok but it is completely irrelevant to what we are talking about.

You keep ignoring my point here. The point is that when it comes to subscription based games, services, etc. MS originally said that you are exempt from needing to pay for Gold to enjoy that service because you already pay a subscription for said game/service outside of XBox Live. This is why Silver members can play online WITHOUT needing to pay for Gold.

In this case however it is different. You are paying for Gold + Netflix. Netflix is the one time where I see the rules being changed.

I am just pointing out something I noticed.

Like I said though, if you already had both to begin with this service is excellent and shouldn't bother you. However then you have me, someone who does not play much online to the point where I would never pay for LIVE, but if I want to enjoy my service that I already pay for I must also pay for something I do not need.

This would be like charging those FFXI players to buy Gold, even though those players do not need it.

Also just to add, you mentioned something about the Gold subscription covering bandwidth. Like I said, from what I know the new BD players with Netflix instant view functionality do not require any extra fees other than the initial Netflix subscription. Why would they not require it yet Microsoft does? The badwidth is covered in my $8.95/month subscription.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Wow...I thought this will be a bash thread and was plesently surprised that bashing is to a minimum.

Well done MS. While its important to give fanboys fuel for forums with crazy promisses and announcements...if you don't keep them, you look like a tool. And MS didn't look like a tool on this occasion...

You can't really bash when MS was nearly spot on.

P.S. Loved NinjaBlade by the way, thanks for the recommendation a few weeks back.

They're claiming to "transform home entertainment" and "break the bank" at this year's E3 or something like that. I'd be very surprised if they can live up to that but we'll see.

And Sony used "MoneyHat" with Movie companies they own. Is the reason that the Selection is not a big as it could have been....

And I don't think there is an extra fee to use Netflix over the 360...I would have to ask my friend who has it...

The extra fee for the 360 is Gold subscription.

*Note* - The reason I say "extra fee" is because subscription based services on 360 (ex: Final Fantasy XI) are exempt from Gold charges because they have their own subscription fee. FFXI can be played online by silver members. I think the reason it is different here is because the Netflix CEO is on the MS board.

I am pretty sure that the new BD players coming out with the Netflix instant view support do not require an additional fee like the 360 does. I am fairly certain they only require your initial subscription plan, which is how I thought it was going to be.

I have also had Netflix for over 2 years now and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt the whole Sony thing has little to no bearing on what is now available to you on instant view.

If you already have Gold for gaming and have Netflix however the whole concept is a slam dunk for you.

Really I don't pay an etra fee and I use Netflix on my 360. It's just one of the bonuses available for those that are Gold members as long as you are also a Netflix user which I was already at the time to. Watching instant play movies from Netflix without havign to pay for a box to do so from Netflix is so worth it anyways. News Flash buddy most people have gold already that would want this anyways. So everytime gold members get something silver members don't somehow we pay an extra fee huh. We not paying anymore than we already would be for gold and if the features on gold don't interest you you ain't being forced to get it. BTW Why shouldn't Microsoft add more features for us Gold Members? I been a Gold Member since the very begining of the Xbox Live launch on the Xbox and never looked back and PSN is shit to Live I use both and PSN is average. You get what you pay for as they say.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
