He might even finish the race, but if he comes in dead last did he underachieve? Just becaue the foks at Sony deluded themselves into thinking they could win doesn't mean they ever stood a chance. the 360 had solid specs, reasonable price, and a years headstart, yet they are still in a position to have to keep an eye on what Sony does. Exactly who here is underachieving? |
You're not drawing the right parallels. a 90 year smoker is someone who clearly should not win, or even finish the race. However, Sony was the frontrunner, and everyone, SONY INCLUDED anticipated them winning the race. Hardly a parallel for a 90 year old smoker running 26 miles.
Rather, the PS3 was the 25 year old athlete in top shape, the anticipated front-runner, who took some time off instead of properly preparing before the race. Then when the time came, he disappointed everyone, and himself. That is underachieving. The 360 came into the race having barely qualified, and being almost universally expected to be totally trounced by Sony.
Intentions and expectations determine who underachieves. And based on that, only Sony has underachieved this generation.
