I love 16 bit era music. They had to write catchy melodies as they had limitations...

Snes is getting a lot of love here...too much love.

Genesis had equally good tracks despite being limited with hardware. I found the music in the genesis games to be usually very cutting edge where snes went for the classic sound...

Snes Opening songs ftw!!

Also, one of my favourite World Map themes:

I could also just do a thread full of DKC music, definitely my favourite game music of the 16 bit era.

Donkey Kong Country series wins, easily for the best SNES game soundtracks. It's amazing!

And to answer the question, yeah I miss it... It has a certain charm to it.

@atma998

That Top gear tune is wicked. Hidden gem...

I do. Everything these days sucks. I can't think of one memorable tune in any of the games released in the last few years.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

I think its harder to find since music in games these days tries to get the cinematic movie experience or licensed soundtracks...all of which is forgetable. but there are games that keep the 16 bit music and melodies tradition alive...
