Forums - Microsoft - Why is The Last Remnant so Freaking Hard!!

My gosh, I have played through this game before and all I have to say is I must have gotten lucky on a couple battles because this game is nigh impossible.  This Mother Freaking game has screwed me over so many times the last couple days that I almost broker my controller by throwing against the wall (thankfully only the wall was damaged)

What the hell was square thinking?  I'm at a point in the game that I have leveled my guys up about as far as they will go, and I still can't win these battles.  Now, it wouldn't be so bad if the battles didn't last like 2 hours, but they do.  When you lose a battle that took you two hours, it is probably the most frustrating things I have ever come across.

EPH YOU SQUARE!

It is a fun game though, but freaking A I'm frustrated!!!!

I agree, I've died so many times in that game. Sometimes it feels like a game of luck.

I think the enemies lvl up to match your lvl. It suck ass when you think that your about to win, but then all of sudden other monsters pop into the battle scene.

This...

Why the hell are they doing that in games? was the same thing in Lost oddessey.

I like the old days better when you could grind some levels for a few hours and then be able to beat the boss you failed to kill before but now? you can't do it anymore they just keep getting stronger aswell.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

the thing that annoys me is when they link battles together. Like right now i'm on the second disc where you are going after all the bases.

These battles start out with a relatively easy, but time consuming, pre battle. Then you get thrown into extremely difficult boss battles without the chance to save. So if you die on the boss battle, you have to do over the crappy easy, but long, pre battle all over again.

Mother Ephing Square!

nah, lost oddysey had set levels, it is one of the reason's it is so good. However, games like last remnant and oblivion frustrate the crap out of me. The glory of RPG's is leveling your guys up to god like status where you can just lay waste to everything in your path.  These new fangled RPG's are ruining that appeal.

Are you grinding? This game is an odd beast in that the more you grind, the more insane the fights seem to get. If you keep your Battle Rank low enemies, and even bosses can be pushovers...

It goes against ALL my RPG sensibilities.

well, yes i grinded because I was trying to do all the sidequests this time through.  Maybe that is why the first time i played it was easier.  Yet, it's not really that the units i'm going against are that much tougher, it's the abilities the boss's use, which should be the same no matter what level you are on.  Like total domination which has them take control of one my units and then that unit one hit kills my other units.

Stuff like that is insanely unfair.  I guess it's no secret this game was rushed through QA, but they could at least patch it to make it more reasonable.

Ugh, I hated when they would do that, its even worse when the unit they take is the one that knows how to bring them back T_T

Enemies scale based on the first time you enter an area.

If you exit, level up, and return, they will be beat-able.

The key to TLR is (at least from my time with it) is to focus on fighting enemies that are stronger than you. This builds up attributes quicker, as opposed to Battle Rank.

I'm on the 2nd disc, Battle Rank 71, and have rarely had a battle that was hard. The Gates of Hell was a piece of cake for me.

God I hated that fight! Those dragons were tough also not to mention the final boss fight which was insane but fun.
