Sonic games still sell in the millions, so it's not like it sells on Mario's name alone as you guys act, alone with Mario it probably wouldn't have sold as much, alone with Sonic is the same result, being the first game to include both icons was a big point but still doesn't mean it's sales dont matter.

 

Yeah, in the millions with combined sales of multiple consoles.

Sonic & Mario combined gave better sales. But Sonic alone would sell much less than Mario alone.

If that were true then why did Sonic and the Secret Rings outsell Mario Strikers Charged and Mario Suger Sluggers?

The name doesn't mean as much as you claim it does.

 

 

Sonic and the Secret Rings in particular sold pretty but it was also an original game while Mario Strikers and Mario Sluggers are in a long list of sports games.

Try comparing any recent Sonic game to Mario Kart, Mario Party 8, Mario Galaxy, or Smash Bros.

So, you're fully admitting it's the brand, series and genre that help the sales more than the name of Mario alone? You just invalidated your own argument.

I could list even more but the point is Sonic's name is still a huge icon in gaming and sells well for it...

I'm certain those games sold well because of the Mario name alone not because of people thinking those were quality games /sarcasm

Actually that's far from truth. Yes we like to hear those games coming but we don't die for them. And actually we would prefer  other BETTER games of course, like RE5. For example, my friend who owns an xbox360 loves Mario Kart and he would like to see a simmilar game on his console but he is not dying for it. He can choose from other games. I'm gonna ignore most of you post because it seems pointless to debate.

This thread points out the Wii doesn't move out much more 3rd party software than the HD consoles even though it has a larger userbase. The best selling 3rd party games are mostly crap that you don't care about either. I'm pointing out 3rd party companies shouldn't bother putting AAA games for guy like you when the majority will buy the games you hate. I'm not twisting facts, I'm showing you how it is.

I feel like this discussion has taken a pointless turn completely off the topic. If you want me to agree its possible for Sonic game to outsell one of many Mario games I guess I will agree. But a Sonic game isn't capable of selling 7 million on its own and we've seen the Mario franchise do time and time again.
