So how will MS justify the next xbox if the current one at $200 sales slightly more then a $400 PS3?

The 360, which is twice the price of the PS2, is outselling it now.  So, why are you going in this direction?  A PS3 that is twice the price of the 360 is NOT outselling the PS3.  Also, do you think the 360 comes with just one model?

In terms of profit, Sony probably don't care too much if the hardware sales are down as the PS3 is still making a loss. They're pushing the software more in order to increase sales. Worldwide only 11000 behind 360 isn't that bad in terms of sales (although one could argue they're both doing bad due to the current economic climate).

They really need a boost in the US and UK and if the UK is anything to go by, they really need to advertise more. But why would they want to advertise something they lose money on? If anything, they need to advertise their first party software more.

I don't think any of the PS3 fanboys realize how Japan skews the PS3 numbers.

Look at the NA and Europe numbers, the 360 outsold the PS3 by 22,348, or 26%

MS is probably worried that it sold so low, but they just need to look at the PS3 numbers and feel better about their situation.

The economy is hurting, not as many people are willing to spend $$ on a console.

Why is the 360 barely outselling the PS3 worldwide on a weekly basis despite such an extreme price gap? Are the two consoles not similar? What is going on?

It is true that all three console makers are taking a hit. How can the PS3 be doing poorly against its competition if they are also struggling to keep their heads above water?
