NES or PS1
NES revived the videogame market after the crash while the PS1 expanded that market beyond what anyone thought was possible at the time (first console to pass 100 million in sales)
It will be interesting though how the Wii effects the industry in the longer term -- no one can say it hasn't influenced the industry but who knows how much it will influence the future (my guess is that profiting off hardware will become standard, but motion controls may not)
I would have to say Nes.
Currently Playing: Mass Effect (360)

Well I DO have a Wii, the fact that I also have a capable PC besides doesn't tear that down, I know what I'm speaking about. btw, I like my nick better than some colourless acronym.
maybe I didn't make my point clear enough : It was how someone can say it's the MOST influental, when not even all developers are jumping the train, infact just a few. + many hardcore gamers ignore it too ( and after 2 years of dust collecting in my house me as long year nintendo supporter has to admit that it's for a good reason ).
at this point of time, 2009, Wii is a toy for the masses, it's not like people say : hey let's play some games on my console, the Nintendo Wii, they say : let's play Wii.
it's like : let's play monopoly, let's go bowling.
How can 720p be considered HD when it looks like ugly snow grains on my 22'' screen?

The NES of course...
Atari was too early, the PS1 only extended the market (nothing new here), the Wii might be seen as the next NES eventually...
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
The NES for introducing the D-Pad to the controller, and for introducing quality control to the business. Both have been integral parts of every (successful) game system that has followed.
And with aerobics games, controllers for the handicapped, instructional piano games, and more, it was the first system to really have something for everybody and be for the whole family. It wasn't just a game console; it was an "entertainment system" in every way.
And in Japan it even had internet access and a floppy disk drive. It did everything first.
Before I got my mom to play Wii Sports, I think the last game she had played was Jaws on the NES.
NES 100% If it were left up to Atari and Sega, the gaming industry wouldn't be what it is today. Don't get me wrong i love sega, but i dont think they would have had the drive without nintendo there to push them. atari just sucks.
