Forums - Gaming - NEW NFS Shift Screenshots. Impressive.

OT:

Let's be serious people, this a Need for Speed game. It's not going to look this good. These screenshots are all hype and filler with no substance.

Hell I'd be willing to take a bet that GT5:P still looks better IN-GAME than Shift when it comes out, comparing console versions obviously.

Sorry but I'm not going to touch that bet with a 50ft pole.

No way Shift is goina look that good! thats pretty much like real life. I highly doubt any game would be able to reach that level of realism this gen (console wise that is)

Also i love the epic flame wars that are going on in this thread...greal lulz

GT5p works in 1280x1080 - so it's not Full HD at all. and yes those Shift Screenshots ARE ingame. yeah it's hard to believe for GT fanboys to see somehing that looks way better than Gran Turismo and not only will be released earlier but also have quite nice damage system. makes me wonder how come EA could pull better looking game in less than 2 years from GT5p when PD was working on it for about 5 years and in 2 years they still could manage to make damage system unlike PD. yeah i'm not fan of Polyphony Digital for the crap they are doing and how they treat their own clients.

A technical remark by someone totally uninterested in racer games: HD is defined by vertical resolution >= 720 lines, Full HD is defined by vertical resolution >= 1080 lines. The aspect ratio is not defined in the spec, thus 1280x1080 is Full HD.

As for the rest of your rant, I just suggest the same thing I always suggest to Selnor. Let's wait for direct in-game footage of both games, with no extra antialiasing, no extra tear removal, no fancy editing etc. It's always easy to look good when you just show your best, and quite retouched up at that.

WoW

That image in that left side mirror is pretty unimpressive...

looks like paint lol.

This screenshot belongs to the first batch of screenshots showing in game cockpit view if I recall correctly.  Those were work in progress.  GT5P got rid of these low res mirror reflections since day one of release, and that's a while ago.

It looks like GRID but not as good, plus with it being a need for speed game you just know it will get a poor review and will be forgotten about rather quickly lol.

You really have an issue with Gran Turismo don't you selnor? Unless Yamauchi ran over your dog you really need to give it a rest.

I played and liked GT series. It's not the best though. Recent years have seen GT as not even a AAA title.

90+ Meta is pretty much what this site refers to as AAA game.

GT4 = 89 Meta.

GT HD Concept = 82 Meta.

GT5P = 80 Meta

So The series currently hasnt been AAA since GT3.

I like the games, but there is better on the market.

Forza 1 GT4's direct competition scored 92 Meta.

Forza 2 = 90 Meta.

I refuse to go with fanboy nonsense it's the be all end all racing game. Even Critics have called the last full game and last 2 half games below 9/10.

EDIT: What Nanaki said =)

And saying it's not AAA because it's 89 instead of Forza 2's 90 is cheap.

But it will always sell more than it deserves. lol

I really hope they can change things up and make the license a fun game again.

I can't believe this thread is still going....

Anyway, SHiFT (I don't think it actually like that but still...) is made my a developer called Slightly Mad Studios, not EA Black Box. So we should definitely give them a chance.
