Forums - General - Do you think the results of the Iraq/Afganhistan justify the cost?

Afghanistan is a lost cause and has been from the beginning.  The Afghan people will fight until the bitter end and have always have done.  The ameicans/british have been in afgahanistan since 2001 and still the country is still in the same state as it was back then.  Now the taliban are fighting to over-throw the pakistan goverment and install thier own laws on that country.

As for Iraq, bombs are still going off everyday and american troops are still being killed/maimed nearly everyday.  The wars are not about democracy or freedom.  The war in Iraq is all about Oil/Iran/stopping China and Russia from having Iraqs oil, everything else apart from freedom.

If it was about freedom then why does the United States deal with the goverment of Saudi Arabia? as that country has no freedoms what so ever for its people.  The world of today is a open world with information flowning the minute it happens and no goverments can cover the eyes of its people no-more.

Since 9/11 happen 8 years ago, Iran has started to become powerful, Russia is on the rise again, China is starting to overtake the world, north Korea testing nuclear bombs, sucide bombing in england, spain and other parts of the world.  The US standing in the world is at a all time low and so fourth.........

Of course it wasn't worth it. USA tries to help his own people, and liberate nations that have dictators, and the whole world just thanks the US with hate.

And also, next time there's civil war in a Yugoslavia or a Somalia, the US shouldn't give a damn about it. Let Europe handle it (lol...).

I don't agree with you point about 'USA tries to help and liberate nations that have dictators'.  If this was so then the USA would be at war with half of the worlds countrys, Zimbabwe is one example....

But lets get real 'why should European countrys fight someone else war ?'  its nothing to do with us and again why should Europeans died and waste money when europe gets no benefit.  Europe was destoryed during the second world war and european countrys lost everything in the end and we know how bad war is...  the americans have not suffered war at home yet and have no idea really the true cost when your own people are bombed from the sky.

proabably not. It would have been easier to say not my country not my problem and let them all suffer in there extreame evil ways.

We tryed to do the right think but its backfired

The problem is if USUK say its not my problem the whole world blames them. If they try to make a difference the whole world blames them anyway. Save the cash and let them sort out there own mess.

The was in Afghanistan has spilled over into Pakistan in a big way which I think is a major failure for that war. As for Iraq there is still a lot of underlying tension and I think it's also a failure because of the way it was handled during after especially after major conflict ended.  It's too bad George W. Bush was in power because I think a higher calibur of man was needed to lead the United States during his terms.
