As said above, it's a Legend of Zelda, not Link's.

Moreover, Link got credits in the following games of the series:

- The Adventure of Link (NES);
- TLOZ: Link´s Awakening (GB);
- TLOZ: Link´s Awakening DX (GBC);
- TLOZ: A Link to the Past (SNES) (two meanings);

Shigeru Myamoto could choose anything he wanted, like Hyrule Fantasy or something, hahaha

Zelda owns, plain and simple. Anyway, i dont think "Link" would work since you can name yourself whatever the hell you want. Hmm...

Link is only named Link by default as Link is supposed to be linked to the person playing the game or something and was maybe one of the first games to let you name your character since it could save with the battery,so his name was not Link really unless you left it as Link.
Why often you see he is recalled as "Hero" in opening cut scenes in some games and not as Link.

Besides the exception of the second game.

 

Also the ones with out Zelda in it,well that is just for instant regocnition to the series for sales.

Most people nammed him Zelda.

Funny how before I started playing Zelda I always thought Zelda referred to Link.

I wonder why the title always has Zelda's name in it instead of Link's but now that I'm used to the "Legend of Zelda" I couldn't fathom anything else.
