Splinter Cell sold nearly 3 million on the Xbox 1 alone. |
True. But the sales for the series have been decreasing, not increasing like you suggest. I can see it possibly doing 1.5-2 million but anything past that would be, frankly, a miracle.
People said the same exact thing about MGS 4 before it came out
And MGS4 hasn't and wont' reach the number of the first two installments in the series. MGS4 had the benefit of being the biggest named PS3 exclusive. MGS4 is also a bigger named series then Splinter Cell and with a bigger following, and yet you suggest that SC will sell even more then it? How could you possibly think that?
Now your just cherry picking why one franchise can sell 4 million why another cant. Im not sure that MGS is more relevant than Splinter Cell. Assassins Creed (new IP)on Xbox 360 alone outsold MGS. and doubled its sales across both platforms.
I'm cherry picking? You are doing nothing but cherry picking. You cherry picked the best selling game in the entire series, which saled across the ps2, and xbox comined which was a huge install base and suggesting that the new one will sell even more on one console despite sales for the series decreasing. It doesn't work like that buddy. And as for AC, I never even mentioned AC. Going by sales, it would seem that AC is more popular then MGS. And it certainly is more poplular then Splinter Cell. As for me, I explained why one series sold 4 million, and why another simply won't. That's not cherry picking. :P
Well, Cod 2 only sold 2 million on the Xbox 360 also. That doesnt change the fact that MW 2 will probably break 11 million this year
How can you even compare the two, they're almost like COMPLETELY different franchises at this point. Modern Warfare was basically a new franchise for Call of Duty. Sometimes franchises do go up in #s, look at Halo, but in this case I think it is HIGHLY unlikely, albeit, not impossible.
Then all compare the 2 million selling Xbox 360 game Cod 2 with the 5 million selling Cod W@W (Xbox 360). is that fair?
Absolutley not. WAW sold due to the popularity and recognition it received from Modern Warfare. Also, an exception does not make a rule. Just another case of you cherry picking though. Honestly, are you 13? Because your knowledge of sales and how they work is honestly that of a 13 year old. Your entire arguement is based off of cherry picking, and exceptions. If someone had predicted COD4 would sale 11 million copies, they would have been lucky, not right.
So your saying Im 13 because I think Splinter Cell Conviction could sell over 4 million copies? I compare the growth of other franchises like Guitar Hero 2, Cod 2 as reasons and you dont think thats acceptable? Splinter Cell could indeed sell over 4 million. I didint say 40 million.
I'm saying your comprehension of how sales work would suggest that you were 13. Not that you are 13. You cherry pick. You state exceptions to rules as fact. And you use completely flawed logic and use examples that are completely unrelated. GH for example was a unique game that made a niche genre popular and has seen a steady increase in sales as a series. FPS as a genre has also become the most popular genre of games since the time COD came out and the genre has only grown since COD2 came out. The series has also seen a growth as a series. It's sold more with time, not less like SC. So how does that correlate to SC selling 4-6 million? You are suggesting that a game in a dieing franchise sell more then it's best selling outing and giving growing franchises as proof that this can happen? Wow.
Im saying Splinter Cell could sell 4-5 million because
1. Its a popular established franchise, its not dieing or dead as you suggest
2. I think SC could indeed get the same tracktion that Guitar Hero and CoD got
3. A similar Assassins Creed did it made by the same developer
4. The Xbox 360 user base will be 7 times (35 million) the size of when SC DA first launched when the new one comes
Also, I dont appreciate being called names because of my opinion. Like I said, i think 4 million, not 40 million!
*sigh* there really is no helping you. btw, I didn't call you a name, as you refer to when you say you don't appreciate being called names. If I offended you then I'm sorry. Also, I didn't suggest you were 13 based on your opinion, but on your reasoning. You can believe it will sale whatever you want, but your reasoning is seriously flawed. Also, you act like the user base will add so many sales, but it sold the best on the ps2 and xbox comined, which I'm sure had a higher install base then 35 million. I also didn't say the series is dead, 1 million + is fantastic. I said it was dieing, meaning the sales of the series have been declining, which they have. Also, again, COD4 sold 11 million. That doesn't mean every shooter will. So it doesn't matter how much AC sold, this is SC not AC.
