Forums - General - Apple can go to Hell

Well, I wake up today and notice that I-tunes won't let me access any of the files I bought.

I go to check online how to get them back, and because my IPod is more than a year old, they won't fix it for me, or tell me how to do it. Instead, the want me to PAY 44$ to get it fixed.

I am fed up with Apple completely now. They make the worst software, I swear. Yeah their OS might be more efficient and have fewer problems, but unlike PCs, when something bad happens there is NOTHING you can do on your own. Apple treats it's customers like we are fucking children. Not only that, but the problems they have are so random, it's astounding how they can be so strongly perceived when, not only are there random problems, but also random LOCKOUTS.

So, in addition to worrying about some stupid incompatibility, you have to watch out for Apple too. I feel like I'm Dave in 2001 Space Odessey.

ITunes is just about the worst software I have ever used, which makes it that much worse because I am REQUIRED to use it in order for my IPod to work. It steals massive amounts of processing power and pretty much just slows everything down when I use it. It fucks up all the time, and doesn't have any useful features, like a way to track the songs that have been moved.

I've spent about 30$ a month on ITunes and I promise that I will never, ever, ever spend one more dollar on Apple EVER again. And I will do my best to get my friends to stop downloading on ITunes as well. Instead I will just teach them how to torrent. THanks Apple!

Yeah Apple are shit.

People only like them because it's cool to be part of the alternative. They always argue you can do graphically amazing things on an Apple, but to be honest nowadays you can do it all on a PC as well. Apple are just an expensive company to support. If I want to upgrade or fix my PC in any way I just go to the shop, buy components and go home and do it myself for very cheap. Whereas with Apple it's a very expensive to do such a thing.

I wanted to get my old iPod fixed a couple of years back, hard-drive problem, didn't have a warantee because it was nearly two years old. It was almost cheaper for me to buy the same iPod (it was an old model) from the internet. Ended up just buying a new one. But grr.

Warranties cover repairs to a product for a given time period.  After the warranty expires, the customer is instructed to repurchase  the product or pay a service fee to have it fixed.  This is normal business procedure.

Expecting a company to honor an expired warranty is silly.

There are many practical reasons to dislike Apple as a company, but this... this is not one of them.

@WoW

I spend 30$ a month on this service. Without the service I can't spend 30$ a month. That's normal business procedure.

I don't understand how you can't access your files. Do you mean you can't access your files on your Mac/PC or your iPod? If it is the iPod, you should still have the music on your Mac/PC and this isn't really an issue of accessing your music as you still have it. Rather your iPod broke.

Now, if you can't use the music that is on your PC because iTunes randomly decided to lock you out, then I would be pissed.

@nordlead
sorry for the confusion. That is what it did. It just decided to lock me out.

this is what I consider an unacceptable bug in software and would be pissed if it happened to me. From my understanding you buy the writes to play the song on your PC and iPod. They essentially "stole" the music back from you if they lock you out of the songs stored on your PC.

This is one of the reasons I still buy CD's and DRM free downloadable songs only. Besides, I can use it wherever I want rather than $1 songs that I can only use where apple wants me too. On top of that CD's have better audio quality.

I think I will go back to media too.

If i need a song right away I'm just going to torrent it from now on. But for something I would have bought I'll just buy the CD, or maybe find a different program.

Physical media FTW

I don't know what you're talking about, Mac tech support is the best and easiest to use (according to them)!
