Everyone knows the numbers on this site are estimates, and further that they can be off by up to fifteen percent. The only numbers you can trust implicitly are real retailer numbers, or manufacturer numbers. That said the article was explicit in saying that 11.6 million units were purchased. So their is a valid concern that perhaps the 360 has been under tracked. Like how the PS3 was over tracked in the summer months in Europe.
The original poster is not misinterpreting the article it is pretty explicit in what it is saying, and that is 11.6 million machines have been sold to consumers. The real question is where are they deviating from this charts tracking. That is a 600,000 unit difference. That would speak to a massive error the likes of not tracking a large retailers sales of a system.
