Forums - Sales - Microsoft: 11.6 Million Xbox 360s Sold

Everyone knows the numbers on this site are estimates, and further that they can be off by up to fifteen percent. The only numbers you can trust implicitly are real retailer numbers, or manufacturer numbers. That said the article was explicit in saying that 11.6 million units were purchased. So their is a valid concern that perhaps the 360 has been under tracked. Like how the PS3 was over tracked in the summer months in Europe.

The original poster is not misinterpreting the article it is pretty explicit in what it is saying, and that is 11.6 million machines have been sold to consumers. The real question is where are they deviating from this charts tracking. That is a 600,000 unit difference. That would speak to a massive error the likes of not tracking a large retailers sales of a system.

Do note they're claiming 11.6mil in June. They are clearly mixing up sold-to-retailer and sold-to-customer here.

PS3: 5.51m/51w, avg 108,039/w (up 239)
360: 12.93m/102w, avg 126,764/w (up 625), leads PS3 by 7.42m (up 70k), avg lead 18,725/w (up 386)
Wii: 13.52m/51w, avg 265,098/w (dn 1,102), leads PS3 by 8.01m (up 90k), avg lead 157,059/w (dn 1,341)

If 360 sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass 360 by...

If PS2 sales freeze, Wii sales increases needed to pass PS2 (as of Mar07, 108.4m) by...
2008: (008w) +4373.8%, 2009: (060w) +0496.5%, 2010: (112w) +0219.6%, 2011: (165w) +0116.9%

either way, if you doubt our numbers, go check neogaf salesage, their estimates are really close to ours

I am not sure "seemingly that batch has now been completely snapped up" is explicit.  And I think hardware failures can account for some discrepency.  I can personally account for Microsoft shipping two consoles but only having one sold to customer because of me.  I understand my old one will be refurbished, but how long is the turn around before thats sold.  Though that's just a thought, I may be completely wrong in thinking that affects the numbers.  But, I think for not having as much info as ioi does, everyone sure gets critical.

Just for the record. I didn't want to say that ioi should change its number, for now anyway. Maybe the jump in Europe is really higher than ioi sources are indicating. But until we have some official numbers from charttrack firms thats in the blue. I just quoting an article for discussion. VGchartz total number is very well in the error range to the 11.6 Million.

 Maybe.

Or Maybe you should just stop doubting our numbers and actually get faith in Vgchartz numbers, and in specific in the person ioi.

Did you do your homework and follow the links to find out where they got those numbers from?
