Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So what's the deal with Spectrobes?

I couldn't help but noticing on a news search that "Spectrobes: Origins" is on the way to the Wii this year.

"I've heard of Spectrobes before somewhere" I thought. And sure enough, it's a hugely successful DS franchise.

So are these games any good? According to some review sites, the sequel was a lot better. Is anyone anticipating the Wii version? The link below me has some pictures of it. I know suitably little about RPG's to say if it looks good or bad from those screens.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Nerds?! What an insult!

Geeks >>> Nerds

That is all I have to say for this thread. I can't believe your indecency!

First one was pretty bad, and hard.

The games are pretty good, and yeah the sequel is much better, too. :)
Didn't know a Wii version was being developed, though, cool. :)

I heard the games were good. One got a 7 on IGN and the other got an 8. They sold more than 1.6 million combined, so it must be somewhat decent.

Probably a rental for me.

It is on a home console now, so a lot of things may change.

There is limited information concerning the Wii game, so we're just going to have to wait a while. Maybe they will have stuff at E3.

Well IGN just did a very positive preview of Spectrobes: Origins. I'll post the link in a second.

EDIT: here's the link: http://wii.ign.com/articles/982/982104p1.html

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

one I played sucked bad, never played the second.
