Forums - Microsoft - FFXIII 360 Exhibits Storage Limitations, PS3 Not Affected

There's a number of things they can do without being hurt, like making it 720p rather than 1080p. This would help with the pre-rendered cutscenes specially, which I assume there will be many.

The different dubs can also be available to download optionally. As most people do not care about that, but they can still make it available.

It's really not that hard, fortunately for Microsoft Square-Enix is REALLY over-serving and over shooting with FF XIII on PS3. They can cut down on a lot of stuff with little notice from the public.

I suspect they may choose to have the cutscenes in 720p on the 360 version anyway. 1080p takes up about twice the space, and I'm sure they will want to minimize the number of discs. Unless there aren't many pre-rendered scenes at all.

This will of course lead to hundreds of Sony fanboys deriding the 360 version of the game as "dumbed down", while the rest of the world happily plays the game largely without noticing any difference (save for those videophiles with huge TVs which support 1080p and are properly set up).

ugh. anyone else think this could be a sign of other "limitations" to come? The game still has atleast 5-6 months of development to go through, and they probably just recently began the 360 version. I imagine there will be more cut from the 360 version :(

i guess im lucky to own both consoles so i can buy this on ps3

Nice try, but this is basically a FUD fest.

At this pace, by the time the thread reaches third page they'll be claiming FF13 360 will be in 2d 16bit graphics...

Not that I am going to buy the 360 version anyway but I like my JRPGs with Jap voice overs if possible. Most of the dubs tend to suck.

Silly question but I thought they'd said that the 360 version wouldn't be ported until the PS3 version in Japan was released originally. Have they started porting it already then and if so why did they start earlier? I wonder if one of the little footnotes at E3 will be a same day launch in Japan for the 360 too?

I read a quote from a SE guy stating they had already started both the translating and the porting.

@ bitmap: indeed, they wanted to make sure they could get the game out in less than a year after the Japan release.

Easy... buy a PS3.
