Forums - Sony - Howard Stringer, CEO of Sony, talks the evolution of the PS3

This is not good, Playstation needs to be about the games again.

They've already shot themselves in the foot whith the blu-Ray, losing an entire generation with basically the same trojan horse strategy.

If they reiterate the same mistake, neglecting both developpers and gamers, Playstation will be, as Walkman, a brand of the past.

God i hate fanboys, almost as much as they hate facts

I like him.

Not afraid to admit where they went wrong.
And good visions for the future.

Apparently lots of people are using Netflix on their 360s, so it seems many people are interested in downloadable content on their consoles. It doesn't mean games aren't important...

Hope not. I'm in Europe so I don't have access to those contents, but even if I had I wouldn't care a bit. I'm not speaking for all here. I don't give a sh*t about these contents, so I don't want them to (keep) focusing on them (I said keep because I don't see any change here... they are following this "media center" approach since the beginning.

Yeah but if you want Sony to be a sustainable company which lives in the present instead of 10 years ago, focusing on those online distribution platforms is a requirement.

Exactly.  As much as I loathe DD (I canceled my Patapon 2 pre-order when I heard there would be no UMD version), that's the way of the future, and companies have to embrace it to survive, or else Sony will be in a position like they were eight years ago, when they were pushing their Trinitron CRTs while everyone else was passing them by with LCDs and Plasmas.
