Cover it up with a chatpad. When I first read your post, I had no idea what you were talking about. Then I pulled off my chatpad.
The gray strip is one long single part.
The makers save money by only painting the white part different colors (blue, pink, etc).

Never, the PS3 FPS have that horrible controller lag which makes games unplayable. Certainly can't be the king of FPS when your biggest game (KZ2) has all that controller lag.

this is epic.
Yeah, I think the same way as well. On my OG white wired 360 controllers I don't really notice it. The same on my 2 black wireless controllers I don't really notice it as well. I remember thinking about buying one of the other colored controllers though and the gray stripe really sticks out. I ended up not buying a new controller afterall (well that and I didn't really need one anyway ;-p )

Nothing of the sort. They don't "paint" anything. They inject coloured plastic into a mold. All they have to do is inject the same coloured plastic they use for another part into the same mold they use to make the gray strip. Your argument is only valid if they don't already offer a mess of other colours for the other parts.

My argument is cost of retooling a production line which is valid as long as that gray part is only currently offered in gray.
