People should keep in mind MS just closed down some of their major developers like Ensemble *Cries* . Why the hell would they buy 3D realms ?

All of the Essemble Employees took other Jobs inside MSGame Studios...

"Microsoft is working to place as many Ensemble employees who do not move to the newly formed studio into open positions within Microsoft as possible."

I'm sure Microsoft did keep many Ensemble employees but it's my understanding that they are attempting to downsize internal development in favour of 3rd party exclusives, some did leave.

no most of them left mgs, and formed three new studios

Robot Entertainment is currently responsible for maintaining and updating Halo Wars and the Age of Empires franchise.[2][3]

Bonfire Studio is a video game development company based in Texas. The team of Bonfire Studio's is made up of former members of Ensemble Studios, after they were shut down by Microsoft. Other members of Ensemble went on to create Robot Entertainment. While there have been no official announcements, there have been hints that Bonfire has begun work on its first project. Little information is known about the project except that Bonfire mentioned it would be fast, fun and addictive.[

And Ensemble is far from the only example. ACES and FASA are other examples, with other developers distancing themselves.

Why would Microsoft shut down and drive away all these proven studios, then buy up a washed up has-been like 3D Realms?

Edit: Just saw the BigPark post. Microsoft's behavior just isn't making any sense now. Do they really have a strategy with all this? Because it kinda looks like they're just shaking things up for the sake of shaking them up...

 Yeah the EDD lost money, but I haven't heard anything about them buying a studio. If that was the case we would have heard a lot more talk and speculation about it, dont u fink?

Why buy a crappy studio that took 12 years and did not finish the Duke Nukem game? I don't think it's true there lots of great developers, why this?

But war... war never changes

@slimebeast

they have only made a couple of web games, they are relatively new.

@tyig

they are cheap, and they have a large fanbase, and they are not crappy

so many rumors, why not just wait for the real thing!?
