"Microsoft is working to place as many Ensemble employees who do not move to the newly formed studio into open positions within Microsoft as possible." http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6197465.html I'm sure Microsoft did keep many Ensemble employees but it's my understanding that they are attempting to downsize internal development in favour of 3rd party exclusives, some did leave. |
And Ensemble is far from the only example. ACES and FASA are other examples, with other developers distancing themselves.
Why would Microsoft shut down and drive away all these proven studios, then buy up a washed up has-been like 3D Realms?
Edit: Just saw the BigPark post. Microsoft's behavior just isn't making any sense now. Do they really have a strategy with all this? Because it kinda looks like they're just shaking things up for the sake of shaking them up...
