Forums - Sony - Problems changing resolution on PS3 720p to 1080p

Ok here's the issue, I have 2 LCD tv, one is 1080p(philips 42") and the other is 720p (panasonic 32") My primary tv is the 1080p I connected the PS3 to the 720p one without problem, but when I wanted to go back to my 1080p lcd I can't see anything I can only hear like everything were ok. Is this TV problem or PS3 doesn't have the capabilities to do auto-resolution process? Any help how to solve this problem?

turn off your ps3 and then turn it on but hold the button for 5 seconds or so, you should hear it beep then you can set the video up again

crap I didn't work bro. Need to try another way.

hmm.. well that always worked for me try these steps from the sony website

# Check that the input mode of the TV is appropriate for the connector in use on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

# There may be a problem with the cable in use. Try using another cable that is compatible with the PLAYSTATION®3.

# If the video output settings on the PLAYSTATION®3 do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system.

# Then, with only the PLAYSTATION®3 and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

This should have worked, it resets the console to 480i, you should be able to see the menus and then change it to 1080p...

On a side note, if it is set in 720p it should still display on a 1080p TV - 1080p TVs can display 720p; however, some 1080i TVs do not.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

That "hold the power button" thing should've worked. Try it again!

Make sure you're plugged into the right input on the TV...

What kind of cables are you using?

I did the reset but I had to use the AV cables, I can now view everything but when I want to change the source to HDMI nothing happens, ... then after 30s it goes back to 480i on AV output It's really wierd because when I came from a 720p source from a Samsung 32" to 180p source philips I did the change Automatically.

I think the HDMI's pin is damaged after several changes of tv :S
