Original excerpt from the IGN interview:

IGN: And for Final Fantasy XIII might that be an option?

Yoshinori Kitase: Obviously, when we talk about XIII it's for PS3 and Xbox – with PS3 being on Blu ray there would be enough memory, but on Xbox probably not. At the moment we're thinking of releasing the voice in English only. Are there many people who would like to play with Japanese voices?

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed some tidbits of the Final Fantasyseries in an interview with IGN:

  • Final Fantasy XIII will have no black warriors and mages due to its sci-fi universe.
  • The Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will not have Japanese voice option due to disc space limitation

I thought they said there would be no differences between the two?



PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Wrong.

IGN: A number of people have asked whether the original Japanese voice track will be available in the Western release of the game.
"Obviously, when we talk about XIII it's for PS3 and Xbox – with PS3 being on Blu ray there would be enough memory, but on Xbox probably not. At the moment we're thinking of releasing the voice in English only. Are there many people who would like to play with Japanese voices?"

Well, they gotta fill the BD space with something...

I hope they will include Japanese text as well so I won't have to import the game from Japan.

Good for PS3 owners that like subs.

This would matter, but the English voice acting in main Final Fantasy titles is always top notch.

Crisis averted, for a moment there I thought SE was about to favour the ps3 for something.

If Sega could do it with Valkyria Chronicle, why can't SE do it with FFXIII?

Just do what every Sony fanboy does and blame it on Microsoft. Although this time its likely justified, they won't make that major of a difference between the versions for console equalitys sake.
