''pc pay'', ''xbox live pay'', ''ps3 free'' buy the ps3 vertions boys,..

hate to break it to you, but as this is an mmo, your going to have to pay even on the ps3, sorry to bust your mojo there...

Dc universe ist free ..M.G.A is free,..all type of ''on line game'' in ps3 is free,.. bust your mojo there

I call bullshit on that.  Any REAL MMO costs money to play.  The free ones are usually ultra crappy or use a model where people interact in towns together but have to form groups to go out in the wild together, ala Guild Wars.

Either way, can we get confirmation that DC universe is free, as in proof?

badgenome, I hate to say you are probably right.

it wont happen, anyways. the 360 already has a great mmo game "ff11", and the ps3 wont for a good while.

The pay as you play option is far more likely at this time unless Sony are willing to pay for there users which I seriously doubt.

Either way I don't care if it goes multiplatform although I would like it to be cross platform if possible, so the community has a greater chance of building in size with all formats playing.  I think the chances of this being vapourware in the next 6 months is most likely to be honest.

Champions isn't going to be though.  not all type of on line games on the ps3 will be free.  just the service.

btw, dc universe hasn't announced whether or not it will free to play yet.  Both of the games are also being made by Sony, where champions is not.

General rule of thumb, if you have to pay for anything on the pc, you sure as hell are going to be paying for it on your console.

sorry to bust your mojo again.

DC will be pay. MAG won't as its not an MMO. As for Champions online, at this point lets see if it actually lasts on pc long enough.

First let me say this I think Sony Online Entertainment is one of the worst developers in the online space. This is not just a matter of their technical skill which is average at best. No the real problem is their heinous disregard for the player. They think nothing of making false promises, using paying customers for beta testing, and even radically redesigning a game from the ground up mid stride.

To be blunt you could spend half a year building a character, and one day out of the blue they would change the entire game, and destroy all those achievements. For an online game this is like genocide. How can you enjoy such a game with the ever present threat that the developer will just flush your achievements. Watching hundreds or thousands of hours work just washed away without your consent.

I do believe the game will probably be free. A number of games use a economic model called micro transactions. Basically they pay the bills by charging you a nickle for this, and a dime for that. The more heinous players in this model basically force you to do this just to be competitive, or to actually enjoy the game in a meaningful way. Before long you discover it actually costs more then a sub service, and worse then that it isn't about competition or accomplishment. In the end it is about who has the most money wins.

While some in the industry champion this model it fully disgusts me. This is really contrary to the way these games were intended to be played. Commitment is replaced by cash, and it devalues accomplishment. Where is the value in getting a hard to acquire item. When the guy next to you just goes to the shop, and buys the item. Before long everyone capitulates, and they are really cheating themselves of the experience.

Speaking on champions going to the PS3. Well its a question of risk versus reward. Sony is a direct competitor and threat to Cryptic, and it is a relatively small pond with big stakes. Any game producer wants their game ported to as many machines as possible, but when it comes to business. Making the PS3 a viable online platform has a real drawback for Cryptic, because then Sony owns the home field, and everyone knows the home town team has an advantage.

As a former Star Wars Galaxies player, I have to agree with the bolded. SOE is the fucking devil.

I've never played Everquest, but Dodece described to a T the way they handled Galaxies.
