Forums - Gaming - If Nintendo announces big games at E3...

.. then I honestly won't give a fawk about third parties ignoring the Wii anymore. They've had their chances, 1 year so far and they have blown them. I don't care if none of the 2 games Capcom is going to announce are for the Wii, neither if Konami or Namco Bandai decide to announce more casual stuff for the Wii and main projects for the other consoles. I won't care if EA keeps on giving PSP the core franchises and still avoids the Wii. If Take Two announces more birthday simulators, Bethesda another bowling crappy game, I wont care if THQ decides to go back to the mini-game route as they promised if sales weren't good for some Wii games, won't care if SE announces KH3 for the HD consoles, won't care if Codemasters or Eidos keep on giving the Wii gimped versions of their games, if Tecmo keeps on releasing 6 year old ports, won't care if Activision announces more crappy mini-games, music and licensed games, won't care if Ubisoft decides to cash in on the Petz and Babiez series, wont care if iD or Infinity Ward never change their mind about making Wii games.

I've had more than enough. If Nintendo announces some big projects it's game over for them. SEGA and Marvelous are giving great support though.

But I will seriously be pissed if Nintendo has another E3 like last year. I would quit gaming.

/reckless rant

PD: I know some companies I included there have some good Wii games coming up, but I've had enough of the begging, petitions, etc. Now it's either 1st party or nothing, everything else would be just a bonus, at least for me.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

i think Wii's 3rd party line up is looking good this year, all we need is good first party game from nintendo, we'll have a clear picture of what nintendo plans in just 4 weeks, we'll just have to wait and see.

Wii/Mario Kart Wii Code:2793-0686-5434

They probably have a new Zelda in the works, but I don't see a new full Mario for a couple years or more.

I use third parties for my niche and unique tastes. They aren't giving me too much on the epic and adventure side like Nintendo does (aside from Conduit and Tales of Graces) but they still give me things like Boom Blox and Klonoa. But yea I think when you own a Nintendo console you own it for Nintendo games. I mean they are one of the best developers if not the best in the industry. It would be hard to own one ever with the hopes of wanting nothing but 3rd party games considering it is all about the first party. Really 3rd party games is just a bonus haha.

I had to get this off my chest, and also preventing disappointment if 3rd parties actually don't show anything new, mainly like last year. All I hope is for good 1st party games, nothing else.

You do understand that blame is a two way street. While your blaming these third party developers you should be pitching a little blame at Nintendo while you are on a rant. Nintendo is just as much as fault for the lack of quality third party titles on their platform as the third party developers themselves.

Nintendo needs to know how to play the game. How to play nice with others. Give the third party developers the support they need. Nintendo needs to pioneer genre development on their console. Nintendo needs to secure exclusives. This has been a issue with Nintendo for years. Basically it is being stingy when it comes to their consoles.

You need to be more upset with Nintendo. They should be purchasing exclusives to ensure their console has the variety and quality its customers deserve. They should be expanding their offerings into mature titles to prove to developers that their console will not be age group defined. They should even be expanding their marketing.

No I am not being an ass. I would like to see Nintendo get over itself, and start working towards having better developer relations. I have owned five Nintendo consoles, and I can tell you how this story plays out. Everyone will relearn the lesson from generations past, and give the next Nintendo a wide berth. You are learning this right now. Nintendo cannot be relied upon to maintain a high quality diverse lineup. They need third party developers for that, and they are just not delivering, and it isn't because the Wii is selling poorly.

I just think it is shameless to blame third party developers when it is just as much if not more so the fault of Nintendo.

Already been blaming them for the past year :P

Your 100% right man, i was actually say the word "yeah" out loud while i read it.

Look go and buy the games that have been great, there are some and we need everyone to go and buy them. You know the list, support the games that matter.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

@ Dodeca, no I think they are both equally at fault, but Nintendo makes up for it by having arguably (and imo of course) the best first party titles.

But I remember Jack Tretton saying post FFXIII multiplatform announcement (try to quote exactly): "I think software companies look and say, 'There's no check big enough for us to do exclusive development.' " I think this is kind of true in a way, especially with MS in there and all these claims that they keep "buying off" 3rd party developers.

Although fun fact: No More Heroes was originally supposed to be a 360 exclusive, but they ended up making it for the Wii :D.

Hasn't every developer that has worked with Nintendo said that Nintendo was great and they worked well? At least I know that is what HVS said about them.
