Forums - General - The OFFICIAL Canadian dollar thread

This change is too rapid not to be painful. I'm sure the long-term economy will be fine, since demand for our raw resources will only climb higher, but in the short term I expect to see some slow growth as companies adjust. Exporters are going to have to start looking for other customers. Customers whose currency is keeping better pace with the CND.

Hey guys, just to let you know, retailers started to adjust their prices!! Future shop changed the announced price of Super Mario Galaxy and Re:UC from 59,99$ to 49,99$!! Older games that were bought while the dollar was still lower are still at 59,99$, but this is great news!! With this, I'm pretty confident that we will be able to buy Zelda Crossbow training for 19,99$ instead of 29,99$.

I'm so happy about this, I'm not used to such low price, 68$ was the normal price in the GC era as you all probably remember (So, 78$ with the taxes..........now, it will be 56$, we save 22$!............almost incredible^^)

Wow, I wouldn't expect Future Shop tobe at the forefront of this. My local Future Shop has had the highest game prices I've seen in town. Maybe the Bestbuy buyout was a good thing.

Also, they must have just made that decision. A friend of mine was just telling me that he bought Z&W for $50 at Future Shop.

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

Sweet. Too bad I already bought Zack & Wiki for 44.99

Oh well, It was still plenty of awesome for my buck.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

All it means for Canada is everything is actually more expensive for you now. Normal things that were always priced higher in Canada because the dollar was worth less than the American one now actually cost more than they do in the United States. And so now I never go to Canada anymore (I used to go every year but ended the cycle a year ago). And I don't intend to go again anytime soon.

CAD is out of control.

yep.

i wasn't gonna post again until it hits 1.10 USD... but i just learned that banks like Toronto Dominion and Royal Bank are valued about on par with Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.

(not that comparing retail tanking and investment banking is necessarily a fair comparison, but it was definitely a surprise)
