What are people talking about "No big releases for the month hurt HD sales" The just received RE5 last month.



Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:


If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

The top 10 is pretty much all Wii/DS with the exception of 2 PS3 games(#7 RE5/#8 Wolverine) as well. #11 is Wolverine for the 360.

Re5 was released 8 weeks ago.

By comparison last year had GTA4 and when we get in June we will see the MGS4 effect...



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

60K over all of others seems pretty low to me, btw has anyone noticed the crappy attach rate for the Xbox 360 over there? Is it due to excessive piracy or bad gaming tracking in the early months?

Don't forget Europeans still like their PC a lot so for multiplatforms 360-PC games the PC is probably giving the 360 a bigger competition than in the rest of the world and seeing piracy rate on the PC I woudn't be surprised if the PC piracy rate wasn't actually hurting the 360 software sales a lot more than the 360 software piracy itself....

The latter... sure piracy plays a part, but it really isn't that huge except perhaps in some of the "Other Europe" or "Other" areas.

The main problem is that the X360 released before the PS3/Wii, so it has more of it's games missing sales (this is even more true of DS and PSP)

Its rare that a game has much noticible impact the first couple of weeks let alone 8 weeks later.

 



Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
