What's the most hardcore game?

The term 'hardcore' gets batted around a lot without much attempt at definition, so I thought it would be interesting to do a quick survey on what VG chartz Members think constitute the most 'hardcore' games. I'm not offering a definition, just answer on how you understand the term and what springs to mind.

Without giving it too much thought I'd say good examples might be:

Civilization series,

Gears of War,

Smash Bros series,

World of Warcraft

For most people it seems like the most hardcore game is the one with the best graphics, and it must be a FPS ...
I personally thing the phrase "hardcore" is stupid >_>
