30 years longer. Wii price cut should happen half way through.
I wish it was over right now. What is the point of not wanting to upgrade to a state of the art system? Honestly, you paid 2-400 dollars for your console. 2 years is plenty of development time for that paltry investment.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
As much as I like my PS3, I would like this generation to end as soon as possible. I really like technology and seeing what new things these big companies come up with to entertain us. So in other words I'm just really excited to see what comes out for the next generation, and how good the graphics can be or if something is different like virtual reality or just something different. So 2012 at the latest.

Yay, I totally agree. A pair of decent EARBUDS costs more than the Xbox 360 right now. How much pure mainsteam 3rd party development time should that buy people who don't want to upgrade?
The console generational lengths are in large part determined by how much time Nintendo thinks the average mom will be willing to buy a new console in. Kids are still the largest market for videogames. Most videogame consoles are purchased by parents, for christmas.
That's why we have to wait so long. Kids have no money, and parents don't see any utility in upgrading.

sounds like some of you should invest in PC gaming. PC has always been superior to consoles in terms of tech, and have most of the good games too.
@zenfold
so Nintendo decided that the PS2, Dreamcast, X360, & PS1 were going to come out when they did?

This generation should probably end around 2011 or 2012, with microsoft delivering the first of the new gens. Of course, there's onlive to consider >_
Sony wants to get PS4 out by around 2012, if not sooner which makes a mockery of its claims that PS3 would be the focus of attention for ten years after its release. A smaller machine would certainly help in the Japanese market (smaller consoles sell better there).

I don't even care anymore....
i want it to be 2013 - 2014
i just got my third console and I don't want to spend another 400$ on anything for a while
