Forums - Microsoft - Buying Xbox 360 in near future, few quick questions and recommendations.

Just remember to have extra money at hand for the wireless adapter (which i really can't believe doesn't come already built in) and xbox live money. If you don't intend to play online then you're all set when you buy an arcade + HDD or used pro :p

Why in the world would you want to use a wireless adapter to play a fast paced game online.  I know of no self respecting gamers who prefer to play with a wireless adapter unless they are stealing their neighbors signal.

Do not play the PC version of Mass Effect. Play it on the 360, where it actually plays better. Trust me...360/PC games always mostly play and feel better on the 360.

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. I think i will make my decision towards which version buy after my exams are over and im done with celebrating them. It should be around 10th of June, if i have money i go for Pro if im strapped for cash i get an arcade (and will buy 20gb later).

Since it will be my secondary machine i wont need that much space, plus i dont play online (just dont like it, plus i like story driven games) so i dont have to spend cash on Live. There is also no need about cables and such since possibility of me owning an HD TV is equal 0 (no money, no need) I just want to play my RPGs.

About Gears well i tried both, they are fun but just not my cup of tea (especially since im used to shooting useing Wii Remote now) RE 5 is a must purely because im a huge fan of the series, i like the story characters etc. etc. (might try dead rising and Dead Space)

Unless your goal is to piss money away, don't buy an arcade. It (and it's precursor, the Core) is called the "Tard' Pack" for a reason.

It's not such a tard pack anymore. You can buy an arcade + 60gb kit from amazon for less then a pro model.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

I see you have Ninja Gaiden DS. If you liked that then you'll probably like Ninja Gaiden II. Same with CoD: WaW. If you liked it you should definately get CoD4. It's much better (and cheap now).

Have you thought about Prince of Persia?

Well i was thinking about it for a long time, Wii brought me back to gaming big time in 2007, time to expand my gaming library with different system. Funds were the problem in the past, but ive just found out that i got a good payed job for the summer (which should help me with Uni mainly) so i can finally buy another system. Probably in the end of May beginning of June.

Beetween 360 and PS3, 360 is a clear winner for me, mainly due to the huge price difference of it and also the western RPG's released for it.

To save money  im really tempted just to get an Arcade or a Used Pro (i know the RROD but it will have at least 12 month warranty) since it will be my secondary system (for WRPG's, JRPG's, some fighters and RE5) next to the Wii .

Just to ask few questions:

If i buy an Arcade can i still use all the features? (apart from stuff that requires the HDD)

For me personally, I think you will ultimately miss having an HDD.  You might even be able to find a cheap 20GB used.  I have a 20GB, and it tends to be enough.  A few demos, a few XBLA games, and room for one installed game at a time.

If after buying an Arcade i buy used Harddrive will my Xbox be able to use DLC like PRO or Elite?

Yes

Or should i just save some more cash (wanted just to get few more games instead) and get a Pro?

Either or, but I really think you'll want an HDD eventually

Games that im planning to buy in near future (bolded the ones im getting straight away):

Mass Effect (got a PC version, but yet to play it, im more likely to start after buying new system)

Fallout 3 (love it, im separated from my PC at home, so that would enable me to play again and play the DLC)

Lost Odyssey

Tales of Vesperia (when it releases in PAL)

Blue Dragon

Resident Evil 5

Fable II

New Fight Night

Any other games that you think would interest me? Are there any Zelda like games on the 360 worth trying?

Most of these games are full of awesomeness, but Mass Effect and Fable 2 are easily the best of those.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

The Arcade doesn't play Xbox games unless you add a HDD to it.

Regarding cables:

If you're going to use HDMI the Arcade and Pro are the same, none of them include HDMI cables (which are very cheap anyway).

If you're going to use component cables (better than composite, but could conflict with the Wii if your TV only has one set of component inputs and you're using it for the Wii), the Pro already has the cables while the Arcade doesn't. I'm not sure how much these cost for the 360.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

get the pro, most titles(except halo3) benefit greatly from HDD.. especially stuff like TLR..

HDD also means you can download demos/DLC/ play original xbox games

Its kinda a no brainer.

happy gaming.
