Why are people blaming Microsoft?

They don't plan on releasing a demo for the West because of poor planning, not because of Microsoft.

If M$ wasn't in the picture, a demo would be in the West, because they wouldn't have to worry about "partly because we are going to carry on with the project alongside the Xbox version, so we really can't just make it available only for the PS3."

That's just as stupid as saying if I got in a wreck at a stoplight because it turned yellow and I slowed down but the person behind me sped up it's the stop lights fault.

There is not a demo in the West because they either just didn't allot for the time or something more important came up.

they have it for the ps3, they can release it now if they want, but they won't because it will be unfair for 360 owners...

Because there's no localization necessary for a Japanese-language demo?

But seriously, demos are supposed to be free.  I'm sure they're not releasing it because they can't sucker as many people into paying ridiculous amounts for a demo as they can in Japan.

Remember when the FFXII demo was a free bonus with DQVIII?  A free bonus?

Although, Konami did charge $50 for the MGS2 demo, only including a bonus copy of Zone of the Enders to soften the blow.

I don't know what about this concept he doesn't understand......

because it goes against his belief that that wasn't the reason it didn't come to american PS3 users. I think I might make a thread to simply point out this fact, that I was right all along about it and so many people tried to make me seem like some kind of raving lunatic. I think payback is due. :P

the voice recordings are already going in. for 2 hours demo they could have get it done, even so tranlated menus would have been enough it's a demo, japanese ps3 demo let you choose the japanese voice act with english subs as namco bandai naruto ninja storm.

and if they didn't had time was to make a 360 version , they JUST started making the port, if a 360 version existed they would have it released like the said they would.

so if no 360 port existed they would have been able to bundle the demo since no other console to be "unfair" to.

sony have nothing to do with the development of it,  u can blame sony for their first party delays but FF is third party.

And again, it is because of

  1. They did not allow time to make the demo for the 360, or
  2. Something more important came up, or
  3. could be due to localization, or
  4. could be any one of 100 issues that Microsoft didn't cause

Microsoft didn't storm into SE and demand that they not release a demo.  Squaresoft chose not to make the demo available to the west because they just didn't plan well enough, didn't have the time, or have more important things to do.  It's not that hard to understand.

Sure, perhaps if it wasn't coming to the 360 we might even have the game by now (though I don't believe that) but hey, maybe if Sony had trippled their budget and added more people to their team maybe we would have it even sooner.  I blame Sony.

They haven't started the 360 version yet.

You're missing my point.  It's worthwhile for them to release the demo in Japan, because they can get away with charging an arm and a leg for it.  This isn't so easy to pull off in North America, where people are used to getting demos for free.

Plus, the game won't be out for more than a year yet (outside of Japan).  How do you know they won't issue the demo closer to the actual release of the game itself?

They didn't say "there will never be a demo outside of Japan."  They said there won't be a demo right now.  And really, is that such a big deal?  Are people so desperate to pay more than the price of a full retail game just to play a demo of a game that's more than a year away?

yes, there are that kind of people. *raises hand*

still its more the wait, or more i have to pay to import it =(.

@Goose
If they had just released the Demo alongside the FFVII AC Complete BD movie like they did in Japan, it could be fairly easy to slip in a few bucks as payment for the Demo.

THis particular matter is no longer up for debate though. We got the truth from the horse's mouth, it wasn't put on PS3 NOW because it wouldn't be fair to the 360 :P

Right. FF is third party. Sony doesn't have control over them. Neither does MS. You blaming an uninvolved party like Microsoft is a bit rediculous. I can easily throw blame in a thousand directions, but when it comes down to it, it comes down to being Square's problem, and Square's fault. If Square had started 360 development earlier, they would have had a build to make the demo from wouldn't they? If they had started to localize the game earlier, they'ed have the translation done for the demo already wouldn't they? Ultimately, it was Square's decision to release or not release the demo. They chose not to. Whatever their reasonings are don't really matter. The bottom line is they could have released it, and they chose not to.

Are you the type of person that regularly blames other people for problems they aren't responsible for? If I have a school assignment to do and I procrastinate all week, under the assumption I'll do it last minute, and then someone I know gets hospitalized causing me to not get my work done on time, who's fault is that? Is it the hospitalized person or is it me the procrastinator? There were many instances where Square could have taken a different course of action. However it was their action to take, not Microsoft's. When you show me the gun held to Wada's head, I'll concede and say it was all Microsoft's fault.

Not a big surprise, the demo was released in Japan because is exclusive there but releasing it in NA or EU without the 360 version would be giving a preference to the PS3.

Marvel vs Capcom 2

We are talking about SE, not Capcom.

But if you think about it, that does NOT make sense, SO4 being exclusive and The Last Remnant being timed exclusive to the X360 makes sense because MS probably paid for those (between many other PS3 fans rants), but why make the demo of Marvel vs Capcom 2 exclusive of the PS3? Unless Sony paid for it (which i doubt), i don't see what Capcom wins with this.

He actually said that was "partly" why they weren't doing the demo at this time.  There are other factors involved, no doubt.  Again, what value is it for them to spend time working on a demo for a game so far from release when they're not likely to be able to charge for it?  Why not wait and do it later (if at all), when it's more relevant and there may be another software title to pair it with (as with DQVIII)?
