Although the iPhone's quarterly sales were eclipsed by a big push of RIM smartphones, AT&T is reporting that there were 1.6 million iPhone activations in Q1 2009:

This roughly matches NPD estimates for DS hardware sales for the period, which tally up to 1.66 million units in the USA:

iPod Touch sales are unknown, but they should push the iPhone/iPod Touch platform beyond DS sales for the quarter. It's worth noting that while holiday DS sales crushed the iPhone in Q4, the iPhone actually managed to sell 20% better than the DS in Q3 of last year.
I just find it interesting to note that while the iPhone/iPod Touch platform hasn't yet attracted the heavy investment by gaming developers that the DS has, its hardware install base is growing extremely quickly, at least in the NA market. I'm sure a lot of these users aren't going to be interested in gaming, but if Apple can manage to leverage their new platform to bring developers and consumers together with online distribution, the iPhone/iPod Touch could be a bigger threat to the DS than the PSP was.
