Forums - Website Topics - virus, firefox is not perfect

I'm thinking that its some got infected on their machine during the whole thing and some didn't. I'd imagine the virus is taking advantage of the fact that most presume the site is still dirty and as such waits for a visit here before it does the popup. Now you've got someone who thinks the site they are visiting is dangerous and isn't familiar with popup virii scams and clicks it and further infects themself. Thats the only theory I can come with as to why its waiting for them to visit Vgchartz before it makes one come up. Those Drivecleaner Spyremover whatever deals always work by trying to convince people they have something that isn't really there so its not far fetched to me at least that may be what is happening here.

I have had this problem too, not everytime but when i load the front page Norton comes up and says it blocked a downloader. This is on FF with adblock, but nothing so far today.

LOL! Now it's a bit broken

Anyway drivecleaner is spyware, possibly received from a flash or an activex control:

here's how to remove it:

(note that there is now a 2007 version of drivecleaner, so you may want to lookup instructions for that as well)

sometimes drivecleaner is a result of a vundo infection:

Oh, by the way, Google no longer lists this site as having malware.

JMan, could people be picking it up off the site?

I don't think it is, but I'll PM you with a few possible areas to look at.  I think once lombard (and whoever else has caught it) gets rid of it off of their computers for certain, that it'll be gone.  I ran firefox with my add ons disabled and haven't seen anything yet.

Same here.  I disabled everything and opened a ton of tabs to different pages and let them all completely load, and then closed them.  No problems.

Also, Google wouldn't have dropped it's badware flag against vgchartz.com on a whim; they also believe the site is safe.
