Forums - Gaming - If the next-gen is REALLY all about motion control....

I think you are making a big fuzz about it. Motion controls are great and well implemented can do wonders. A game like Gears of wars with a wiimote, for example would be more intuitive and fun to play than messing with 2 annoying sticks.

So instead of being afraid embrace it and you will surprised.

@ Mr Khan

well I would argue that no matter how intuitive or refined Motion controls get they just still wouldn't work as well on some genre's such as JRPG's or Third person Shooters. While I think it would be excellent of FPS it just doens't seem right trying to play Gears 2 or Uncharted with motion controls. Like I said in an above Post as long as there's an option I'm fine with it I just don't think it should mandetory.

I'm guessing you never played RE4: Wii Edition.

I have only briefly, however Uncharted and Gears 2 still felt much more comfortable to me to be honest. Sometimes I just don't think motion control is necessary. While it doesn't hinder the experience in RE4 I just don't think it improves it either.

i dont see the problem

just out of curiosity, what wii gams have you played BenVTrigger?
because i have the suspicion its only wii sports since no other game i own requires you to ''wave your arms about.''
i find the wiimote perfect for relaxing too. i generally play the wii lying down. even motion heavy game such as madwolrd can be done with very subtle wirst flicks

@ all Wii owners

I'm not bashing MOTION CONTROL. I think that motion control is great I just think you guys are completley missing my point. I don't think it should be mandetory that is all I'm saying.

The Wii is a great system which I own multiple games for. However I still like normal controls as well. Thats all I'm saying this thread is about if motion control is FORCED onto everyone.

While I personally disagree and found that the Wii controls significantly improved the gameplay, If you hold this opinion than what do you have to fear? It should also be noted that RE4:WE has an option to use a gamecube pad as well and several other games have the option for you to use either a gamecube or classic controller. You can point out examples of genres that dual analogue is not suited well to or point out specific games that implemented them poorly but no-one ever seems to blame the controll style it'self and instead they (rightfully) blame those who developed game. However whenever a Wii game which has motion controlls poorly implemented most people seem to cite this as a fault of the controll style it'self rather than blame those who actually made the game.

Read all my other posts in this thread.  I do not fear motion control at all unless its forced.  I'm perfectly fine and acutally excited at the notion of having motion control combined with HD graphics as long as there is a choice.  This thread is a hypothetical situation where motion controll is mandetory.

And yes I agree I can perfectly understand someone likeing the Wii version of RE4 more.  Its all about preference and some people like me just overall like a normal controller better while others like you enjoy the motion.  Thats why I'm fine with it as long as there is a choice.

It won´t. If you are think that´s the reason the wii is selling so good they you are wrong there are way too many factors affecting it´s sales.Such as the casual appeal.

@ctk495

I know that. The biggest factor of the Wii is that it appeals to everyone not motion controls. I think the Wii is an awesome system and in no way is this supposed to be an anti-Wii thread.

Its purely hypothetical.
