Dragon Quest is a Square Enix IP, even though Square Enix isn't actually making the game. It's the same deal with White Knight Chronicles.

What makes these people Forget that the PS1 was the Only Console being Developed for on a large scale?...The Sega Saturn Flopped in the States and The N64 was left to it's own Devices... this is what Led to so many franchises finding their footing on the Sony Console...It was the failure of the other two consoles of the era..that is why so many games that would of have been Sony console exclusives in the PS2 era found their way to the GameCube and the Xbox..because those were not failures...

I know the top ones are not owned by Sony, thats what I am saying. Average consumers are not understanding the difference between 1st and 3rd party games. Do you have any idea how happy it makes me to see a fanboy walk into my store, state that PS3 has no games, then ask to reserve God of War III for 360 in the same breath(makes me giddy like a small child ^_^)?

First Party: games made by the Console Manufacturer

Second Party: games made By Studios owned by the Console manufacturer and/or under Disclosed contracts to Independent Studios for Development on a IP owned By the Contractor which is the same as the console manufacturer.

Third Party; Games Made by companies not linked or under contract to the Console maker Including console Exclusive games

Microsoft's got alot to talk about the PS3 in Japan..
But why are they still in last place?

Brand loyalty and a host of other issues.  Don't feel bad for them, they were never first place to begin with, so they can't really feel the sting of being in last like another company I can think of.

The bolded is first party. If a studio is owned by Sony, then they are a part of Sony. Therefore, they fall into the group of "the console manufactuer".

Second party games is when a company hires a third party studio to make a exclusive for that platform. White Knight Chronicles, LittleBigPlanet, and Lost Odyssey are all examples of this.
