Of course people got turned off because it's a bad game. Selling than half than your prequel is justified in this case.
And a DQ spinoff would have sold just as well on the PS3.

Indeed it is, but we have no proof that a similar DQ spin off would do better or worse on the PS3. The case is the same for Persona to be on either PS3 or Wii.
